So for 12~13psi I should be looking at about 50% UT values right? Jeesh Im seeing 11 without the tune, granted the boost curve is entirely different. Should I go with an upgraded oil cooler or a bigger FMIC next? Cant afford both right now. Thanks again ![]() |

i think the two that have been implecated in my recent memory for cooling are oilcooler and radiator. but seeing that there isnt a radiator upgrade that i am aware of..
go with the oilcooler if you are worried about heating issues and limping at that track |

Ahhh, limping at the track, the saga continues. The bottom line is that you CAN get a limp-free tuned car at the track.
The background story is that I've been running Procede since V1.41 and have gone through various iterations of track limping. I now have 50+ track days, anywhere from 30 degree (yes, on R-comps, yes, scary as hell) to 105 degree ambients. The last 15 track days have been 100% limp-free. When you compare your car to others (tuned and not), you need to keep in mind that driver differences can make a HUGE difference on limp-proneness. Data from different drivers is meaningless. A fellow instructor on this site has achieved 285+ oil temps and then had his beginner-level GF drive the car and not break 260. I am running an iteration of V2 with the addition of the TPS sensor wire. UT is set at 70% across the board, I run about 30% race gas and my only other power mod is high flow cats. I currently run a VK oil cooler, but that's really only to keep oil temps in a comfortable place (265-270). The stock OC didn't increase my limp-proneness at all, just kept my oil temps at 285-290+ Did you have limp problems after the car heated up? You might want check two things: (1) Get an OBD-2 logger and log your coolant temps. I use the Davis Carchip to do so. (2) Do you have a slushbox? My recommendation is to get rid of your other high flow mods and slowly add them in. An open track day is very useful for that. Run stock intake and see what happens. It may be that the intake + no cats makes for too nonrestrictive of a system and your boost is spiking out of control. I don't know. All I know is: IT IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE FOR A TUNED 335I TO RUN LIMP-FREE ON TRACK. |
