Everyone wants a piece of the pie!
Funny story...after I cut my deal last year, I was looking at the doc fees on the order form & I was like : "Huh..$183?" Then I pulled out my five-year old order form from my 2000 323Ci and the fees were only $83! I was like...WTF? I had them "adjust" it.

In addition to your 335 specs, you'll also need:
1) Aluminum Pedals (a must if you're a true MT driver)
2) HUPER OPTIK TINT....you're in Arizona (need I say more?)
3) X-Pel front-end protection. Invaluable in my book, if taken care of.
4) Possibly rear spoiler & blacklines? (matter of taste).

Congrats again.....the waiting is the hardest part.
I'll see if my dealer has a black/poplar I can look at.

Yeah, the doc fees on my ZHP were $250ish at the same dealer 3 years ago...nobody out here budges on the doc fees though.

As for your 'mods' it depends if I buy it or just lease it...tint is a must here though...and I have put protection on my ZHP headlights/fog lights but not the paint...I like my ZHP spoiler but the OEM E90 one may be a tad big for my taste...again, a lot will depend on whether I actually buy this or lease it.

Thanks and luckily I still have my ZHP to drive around until then!

Wow, that stinks...see below response from my CA when I asked how much time I have until my order is locked...the 5th is a long time away and depending on how many slots the other CA's have presold you may get bumped...I would ask to speak with the sales manager who he reports to so that guy can put the order in so another CA can't do a split with your original guy...assuming you like your CA that is!

You have some, but not much, time. Reason: factory will lock in orders before they go get drunk for a couple weeks when Germany shuts down. I’ll give you an idea tomorrow of how much time we think you have before it is too late.

Hey Rich, went to my dealer and the aluminum looks cheap/plastic to me...I saw the light poplar though and I changed my order to go that direction! Thanks for the advice!

I ran some numbers on estimated lease vs. cash and here is what I found out:

-Using a 71% residual and a MF of 0.0033 on a 24 month lease I get a payment of about $750 a month including tax. Total cost over 24 months is $18000 (no license or doc fees included).

-If I pay cash the total price is $43207 ($39970+$3237, no license or doc fees included)...so subtract the $18000 from that and I would need to sell the car after two years for at least $25207 to make out...note that the 71% residual above will be $29443.

So cash appears to be the much better option.

Don't forget to factor the opportunity cost on your money if you go cash. The total price you mentioned, $43,207, would yield you over $4,300 conservatively invested in a CD at 5% annually if you leased, rather than purchased, the vehicle. Tack that on to your expectation of selling for a minimum of $25,207 and your slightly over the residual of 71% ($29,507).

Help me out on this.....what rate of interest are you paying on a lease these days?
Isn't it higher than what you can get by purchasing a fixed income instrument (like a CD)?

Very good point!...but you need to take a third of that $4300 away for gains taxes and you are down to less than $3000...

Depends on the model but for 'hot' models the standard max marked up MF is 0.0035...or 8.4%!

I won't know which way I go until the E90 335 lease numbers come out...I spoke with my CA today and he said the E92 will most likely get the standard 0.0031 buy rate because not only does it have new engines but new body style, differentiation from the sedan, etc...he then stated that nothing is changing on the E90 except for the engines so it will most likely have better MF's than the coupe. Time will tell!

Yeah I'm guessing E90 335's will have a MF of around .00225 for 36 mos. Maybe .00250 but nothing more.

You should get your car by Oct maybe?

Greg what were all the options available for interior trim on the 335 sedan? Was there a grey wood trim available (some refer to as piano black)?

I'm still debating getting aluminum, I currently have Myrtle wood and am tired of wood trim but I don't want something that looks or feels like plastic. The grey wood seems different though and would good with black interior.

Yeah, late Ocotober...Halloween present!

Unfortunately nothing really changed...burl walnut is standard with light poplar and aluminum as no cost options...I went with the poplar after seeing it in person based on Rich's suggestion...the burl is too dark and the aluminum too 'cheap' looking.

From all the pics here, the aluminum doesn't look cheap, will have to see it in person before I order. Still I think the aluminum is what I will get since I've had wood for over 7 yrs, I'm just concerned about scratches. Where did I get grey wood at, that must be on the E92?

I also thought you could opt for trim around the steering wheel to match your trim, since they said the 335 sedan will be getting the same steering wheel as the E92, didn't I read that?

Yes, the E92 has the Grey wood option.

I don't think BMW will give you Burl or Poplar Wood Trim on your E90 steering wheel if you are getting
one of those options for the dash. I don't believe they even do that for the E92.

But you will get the new E92 steering wheel on an '07 E90 w/Sports Package, with "galvanic" silver accents.
