I usually pick up burglar alarms in businesses. But it is always K band, and all the police around here use Ka Band. So it's easy to know what's what.

I have a V1, but I've heard good things from passport as well. The V1s saved my ass 3-4 times from cop cars completely hidden. I mean, sure $400 is a pretty penny, but it makes up for it with how many times it'll save your ass. Just turn off X band to get rid of all those stupid frequencies from stores and banks and you're set!

I love my V1. It's still annoying in shopping centers, but I wouldn't trust anything else on the highways. The arrows and the "bogey counter" definitely come in handy.

I programmed it to avoid some of the false alarms though:
-X band off (they don't use it in AZ)
-K band muted until 4dots (half intensity)

I have both...

V1 in my car.

9500ix in wifes.

Then I switched em because the V1 is not as good as the 9500ix...

GPS based call outs for speed sensors, red light cams etc is a huge plus here, but not everyone will need that.

The 9500ix also functions really well, handles multiple signals, ALSO HAS ARROWS,

and allows you to block garbage signals (by gps) that plague your commute BUT WILL SOUND IF ANOTHER SIGNAL IS SITTING AT OR NEAR THAT SOURCE.

Because it was nice and expensive, I stood by my V1... But when it comes down to it, my wife now has the V1 and I have the 9500ix. In fact now I'm buying another for her car because, well, she's not stupid...

I know K40 doesn't compare but i had it installed at the dealership and its barely noticeable. Paid for itself many times over, saved me twice last week

I'm using this one:

http://www.stinger.com/index.php?sec=index&lang=en

It's the best there is, it's an spectrum analyser, full stealth, and very good detection on both K and KA band.

with two buttons the software can be removed and then it's just a gps / miles registration system.

15 years of driving and no moving violations (knock on wood). Just like how serious injuries escalate when more advanced protection is implemented in sports (see facemasks in college hockey giving false sense of confidence leading to recklessness), I feel if I got one, I'd be more reckless and get popped by lasers galore.

But, if I had to get one, everyone I know recommends the V1. Except for one guy who defends his passport with every last breath....

Passport 9500i ! But don't rely on radar too much. Scanning the road visually is a plus. This is my second Passport with nothing on my driving record. knock on wood.

Since when does the 9500ix have arrows? V1 has saved my ass several times, but is annoying around town. Definately would have bought the passport if it had arrows.
