I just replaced my battery on a 06 325i. This thread proved to be very useful. Removing the positive terminal pack proved to be a PIA, and anybody attempting this should be aware that the clips holding them in place are very, very sharp. Once I utilized a small screwdriver the right way, it was a breeze changing the battery.

I used a Autozone Duralast Gold 94R-DLG, the dimensions are close enough to be direct replacement.

Just wanted to see if the OP has had any problems after leaving the car for a few days or something along those lines.

i dont understand why the car wont start after a few days of letting it sit?? isnt that not a good thing

Lately it has been fine...idk I guess that one time it was left long enough and discharged enough times to make it useless.

I just went 5 days not using mine and it started right up. I'm using the 21lb battery.

just wondering,
but i shut my trunk the other day with the negative off by accident (yeah dumbass here) but i just pulled my actual metal key out of my big fat plastic key that goes in the car , its a 2 part key you carry and opened the trunk that way, mine has a (old school metal key) hole right above the license plate. had to bend down to find it. but got in that way. (maybe help you in the future)

I tried that and it didn't work! I don't know why but mine wouldn't unlatch...

You beat me too it. I was going to say the same thing. Might be a useful mod for daily driving to save on gas. For the track, you now have a heavier front end. Even on my K3 wound up tight as **** she still dives. I'd love to unload 100lbs+ from inside the cabin or up front. Anyway, the XI is still a piece of you know what on turn in and thats that. Upside - you can pound it anytime after apex. I can see a C6 'Vette in my near future ...

Well, no. There is a reason why F1 teams spend hundreds of millions of dollars to make the cars as light as possible. There is a reason why race cars are lighter than street cars.

Imagine a small weight tied to the end of a string. Take the string and twirl it around in the air. The bigger the weight, the sooner the string will break, right? Same with a car.... the bigger the weight (mass), the sooner the tires will reach their limit of traction during hard cornering. So, by reducing the mass at the rear of your car, you will gain more rear grip.

Yes, doing this mod will change the balance of your car; but, removing weight is always a good thing! Taking weight out of the rear will give the rear tires a bit more grip. So, the balance of the car will 'tighten' some (more understeer) relatively speaking, but because of the weight reduction the overall level of grip will improve, acceleration will improve, and braking will improve.
