No- that's mostly bunk. They say "oh...it sucks the crud off the bottom of your tank". However, the fuel pump ALWAYS takes fuel from the bottom of the tank, and it has a filter. However, you should generally not run the tank until it's almost dry because your fuel pump is fuel-cooled and can have a reduced service life....plus, even if you have a few miles left, going uphill can make all the fuel slosh to the back and get you stuck.

Yeah- I calculate my mpg as well, and it's pretty much always ~ 1mpg less than indicated.

Not a 335 but on a trip from Michigan to Alabama last weekend with luggage and a passenger, driving at an average of about 75 MPH, I got over 500 miles from a tank in my MT 328i. I averaged 34 mpg on that tank.

Thanks, Mike.

Some of you guys must be doing 80 to 90% city driving or something.

I commute from the Anaheim Hills area to near LAX or to Newport Beach daily and even in stop & go traffic during normal commuting times with the AC on, I still consistently get 26.4 mpg at the very least.

I have just a tick over 20k miles on my car and I don't think I've ever had a tank where I got less than 26 mpg. All time best for an entire tank was 30 mpg.

I drove my 335 from Los Angeles to San Diego a few months back. Pulling into La Jolla I had 3/4 of a tank left with the display telling me I had over 400 miles left until empty.....fucking impressive

My wife wanted a Toyota Highland Hybrid to be more eco. The way I see it, I owe it to the world balance that out by running at 6 mpg for as long as possible (try that sometime, it's fun).

Carbon footprint? F#%& that. I'm wearing my big boots today.

For some reason i feel like the legit maximum is 28.0 mpg. I've had that twice when i go home (320 miles). Normally i average 22-23, but before the reprogramming i had left the trip computer continuously calculate and it was 22.1 mpg.

The DTE values that the computer displays do not count! To achieve that calculated number you simply need to fill up the tank, reset the DTE and drive very slowly at a constant speed for a few miles.

On the other hand if you calculate it based on your trip summary (miles) and how many gallons you took at the pump.... then that would be impressive!

Anyhow, it does not remove the fact that I average ~18 MPG and can barely reach 250 miles on a tank with my car, so 335 is definitely much more efficient!!

I am at 373miles right now, still says I can go 48 more. I always get 350ish when the light comes on.

Ive had it tell me that I could get 458 before when filling up. I have ~30mile highway each day, at 75ish, so, I get great MPG, usually around 28 or so.

Went from Springfield, Va to Albany, NY (up the street from SUNY) on one tank. Left during around 6pm, the tail end of DC traffic. Roughly 420 miles. I usually don't let my tank get this empty, but all the stations were closed by the time I needed my tank got to where I would normally put in gas and all the stations open sold Mobil gas. My average speed was 75-80mph.

LOL at this post. If I drove like that... I would be arrested.

My DTE has also been above 500 miles. My trip computer says I am averaging 28.3 life to date... my own calculation is more like 27.x. But still... awesome for a car like this! (I am a lot of highway... but it is mountain highway)
