hi guys dont have my 3er anymore but still stop by from time to time for the great advice i have always received here! after hearing many recommendations for la tint in sterling, i decided to bring my e60 m5 there and got a VERY bad vibe. i was talking to the guy at the register and for some reason they only provide the pinnacle series in 35 or 15. well i felt 35 was a little too light for me and 15 would probably be too dark for my taste so i asked if they had anything in between. the guy said no they do not provide anything in-between because those levels would be considered to be "illegal" in virginia....well what the heck is 15 considered then genius??
i then asked what type of work they do around the dot matrix to prevent air bubbles and he said there is nothing they can do. all cars with the dot matrix will end up with a silver ring around the window where the film would not stick properly. i asked if they would be willing to "re-press" the areas with the dot matrix as i have heard from various people this gets rid of the air bubbles and he said that it wouldnt do anything and the silver ring would return after a couple days. lastly i asked if they provide moleskin to prevent the film from being scratched by rolling the windows up and down and he said no because this would require taking the door panels off and they do not do that there. i asked if it would be covered under warranty if the film became scratched and he said no because if that were to happen, they consider it to be a FLAW with the way the car was built and so it is BMW's fault!!!!! needless to say i will definitly NOT be taking my car there. can some of you guys in the NOVA area recommend where u all are getting your cars tinted??? does driven dynamics offer moleskin installation?? |

The Tint Place on the intersection of 28/29. He's got the Huper Optek film there, which i heard is real good...also when he did my car..he took of my panels, and a S63 was in there also and they offered them the moleskin from what i over heard.

Go see Matt at TNT tint. It's just him - but he does a great job. I've had several cars done by him. http://www.yelp.com/biz/tnt-tint-alexandria

I'm another fan of Driven Dynamics. Just got mine, my mother's X3, and my dad's 335xi, done there. Artie, who did all 3 cars, was very nice and patient with all my questions. They may be a bit pricey, considering some guys got $100 deals at other shops. (I paid $199.) But I think it's worth it since I was paying for top quality 3M films. Cheapest is not always the best, otherwise you'd be driving a Hyundai instead of a Bimmer.
