Highly recommend Senses for after dinner night cap. They have really great cheesecake there as well. I've spent too many nights there...
Panorama on top of the Manulife centre is an interesting spot. Don't really remember the food and it was a little crowded - I guess this isn't much of a recommendation, but the view was nice! |

Highly recommend Scaramouche as well...I proposed to my wife there!
Also Via Allergro is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to....it has the largest wine selection in Toronto I believe. Rain was good...not a typical place to celebrate an anniversary though Auberge Du Pommier is also very good. Octagon is good, however they have this strange policy where they don't allow you to take pictures inside the restaurant, so that may cause a bit of problems. Harbour 60 is the obvious choice if u want good steak. Anona (Park Hyatt) is also pretty good...i've never had a bad meal there. Same applies to North 44 I also liked Ki as it offered a different perspective on Japanese cuisine Starfish is also great if you like seafood! |

I'll second Ki and Blowfish if you're into Asian. Both very trendy, Ki more the financial district crowd. Also check out Lee (of the Susur Lee fame) very near to Blowfish for Asian fusion.

This. The forrmer Splendido guys (chef/manager) opened Nota Bene last year and it has been packed since day one. Food is outstanding and an amazing value, service is excellent as to be expected if you've ever been to Splendido. Highly recommended, we've been about 5 times so far and its been excellent every time.
Lots of other decent choices in this thread but many of the best are out of your price range (ie. Canoe, Scaramouche, North 44, Auberge de Pommier, Harbour 60, Colborne Lane) IMO. Also, sorry but the Old Spaghetti Factory is a terrible recommendation... IMO of course.

Hillebrand Winery Restaurent is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Splendido changed ownership as of July 1st. The original chef/owner is now focusing on Note Bene. Rain is no longer in operation.

If you're looking for something classy yet slightly outside of the GTA, in Pickering there is this place called PORT.
Its just so relaxing and the food is great. Decent wine selection too.

Yup
Their website said they are under renovation, but when I passed by their location, there was a "For Lease" sign at their window.

BTW: If you are too lazy to call, some of the "finest" restaurants can be booked via this website:

Scaramouche is consistently ranked in the top tier of restaurants in Canada Splendido is also considered Top 5 Both are modern fusion. Valet is standard at Scaramouche and seeing Ferraris and Astons in the lot are very common. Gracie at Yonge/Eglinton in uptown have great homemade pastas Auberge Du Pommier is great french food Le Select on Wellington is also great french and of course, Pho Hung on spadina has the best pho noodles for $5 |

Since I just came back from 3 wks in Europe, and taking another week off in Aug, I think we'll have to settle down on mid priced locations, with good food and service.
Looks like Le Select and Nota Bene will receive my hard earned cash over the weekend. Plus other spots in and around ent. district. Thanks for all the tips, most, if not all aligned with what ppl said on chowhound and zagat. |

You won't be sorry with Nota Bene trust me. Your other choice Le Select is a decent bistro but nothing super special IMO... its a nice space though I'll give them that. My wife used to work across the street so have been for lunch a number of times.
If you're looking for other inexpensive bistro options you might want to check out Batifole or Le Paradis. Batifole is in Chinatown East (Gerrard & Broadview area) and is a very authentic french bistro at extremely reasonable prices... Le Paradis is in the Ave Rd/Davenport area and is similar albeit busier given the location. Le Select is like a classier version of these two with higher prices as to be expected. Either way enjoy your trip, lots of good eats to be had here!

There's a drop down menu halfway down on the right with plenty of categories and lots of reviews.

Spag Fac? R U kidding. Spag Fac is a decent place to take my kids, but it is to Italian Food what McDonalds is to burgers. Take a drive up Hwy 400 to Woodbridge. ANY resturant will do, but my favorite is Ice Cream patio - best wood oven pizza around. In Toronto try Five Doors North or Seven Numbers. Quirky, fun, fantastic food. Or head to college and bathurst, walk west and pick any place that smells great. Great place to wander around too. |

However, Sapore had a more upscale atmosphere. Spag Fac is not McDonalds! lol It might be something thats not on the likes of some of the other great places mentioned. However, I think the pasta there is amazing. |
