Screw that, *knock on wood* if they voided my warranty but still replaced my HPFPs I wouldn't think twice about going all out, FMIC, meth, turbo upgrade, the works.

Sorry to hear that & thank's for telling us the problem. Thats why all of us should note, to re-watch/review the DIYs as many times as possible and do the damn install you're self, especially like the current piggys on the market, i dont have much knowledge about our cars at all but i do install my tune my self...I figured No one will be much careful other then you're self on you're own car. and if something goes wrong i'd rather blame my self then some1 else.

Why dont you buy the Dinan tune and get their warranty for the remaining 25,000 miles?

I wouldn't call it all gone, only the drivetrain warranty should be.

Drivetrain is the most expensive of all maintenance and warranty work!

that sux. you said the problem occurred right after you took out the JB right? Didnt it occur to you guys that the problem was most likely in the wiring and to go back to double, triple, and quadriple check that the wires were in the right place? that was the only thing tampered with before the car went into limp mode.Either way too late now..and fawk yea..tune that bizatch

Maybe both, but they def found out about the wire. They had pics of my ecu out, all sorts of wire pics, etc etc....Iono man....

Just a guess but I'd doubt they'd be able to void your warranty simply because they think you went in to the ecu box. My only reasoning is that there probably have been plenty of tuned cars which needed warranty work and im sure during the install of whatever tune was installed there have been scratches, dings, etc.

The few voided warranties I've read about have been due to wiring issues which are much more evident of tampering

I think whatever shop you took it too should be held at least somewhat responsible. You hired them to do work on your car, and correct work at that. I understand you took the risk tuning the car, but they uninstalled it improperly, they owe you something.

I hate making mistakes so I'd be pissed too. But it sounds like you wanted more power anyways. Lucky for you this happened in time to still get in on the VK dp and FMIC groupbuys. That and meth and a better tune and you can drop by the dealer for your final dealer paid oil change and really enjoy seeing them going crazy about something that isn't any of their business. That's my plan anyways.

Take your car to another dealer for basic services... Wont hurt trying...
If you really want warranty, trade the car for another at a dealer. Might lose a few grand but you'll get your warranty back, if its that important to you.

Otherwise, go ahead and get a new tune, and mod it.

I laugh when I see people post this type of stuff. And do what exactly? He's one man and BMW is a big corporation, meaning they have a team of hungry lawyers ready to fight any case. If the OP gets an attorney, he's going to be spending a lot of money for a lost cause.

You could do this BUT you have to pay now, and you can't get them to cover warranty repairs until he reaches 50k miles, as they will charge less premium assuming BMW will repair through the warranty period. BUT if they discover that the warranty has been cancelled by BMW they DO NOT have to cover him at all.

I would check the fine print, but this is how it works from the places I checked out.

They can't void your entire car's warranty...

so your brakes should still be replaced etc... maintenance stuff is different..

it's a federal law no??

they can do whatever they want. they have a rule book and warranty manuel thicker than those brakes he was trying to replace. sorry it happened. put it behind you. tune smart. start with a jb3 or whatever tune u choose on a low map and do stuff thats more important first. FMIC upgraded oil cooler. b4 hitting up the power adding mods such as dps, intake, pulley, etc
