Same here Jamie - plus if my dealer wipes the map, it's another 150+ mile trip each way for me.

180 mile round trip isn't that bad!

Might save up and go for the switch module - then I can map it myself and if the dealer wipes it i can reinstall....also return to standard if i need any warranty work!

Yeah my thoughts too - saving the £60 or so of fuel to get there and back, it makes sort of more sense.

Last I heard there where issues with the switch unit working correctly with the facelift e90 LCI cars made 09 onwards. As I had my order put on hold due to compatibility issues.

The new 09 320d is not tuneable through the OBD port yet.

We can tune them directly on the ECU but not via the OBD port yet so the switch is not going to be available for a little while longer.

that is an

If I knew that would have bought a prefacelift. Wouldnt mind a fixed map but problem is with my luck and the frequent visits to dealer I generally make as soon as I remap it I will need it off to go the dealer.

With about 150 miles round trip could be a right pain

Is this just the E90 LCI or any 2009 3 series?

From what we have seen it applies to 320d's from about March 2009 onwards.

Computer thingy and a suitable cable plus a few key presses I guess.

Something I'll be doing if/as/when I get an end of year payment from work

Your car is on the border line. The switch may work - only way to know is to try it.

Without using OBD port...we take the ECU out and communicate with it directly using the method that the manufacturer uses to program the ECU in the first place.

I have been advised that it applies to all engines that use the EDC17 ECU which includes the x20d 177, x118 143, and the x23d 204 although we have not personally tested the situation on a x18d as we do not see many of them.

when switching between standard and remapped maps, does it effect the ecu flash counter? / can the dealer tell if the ecu has been changed?

Hi Guys,

I just would like to say thank you to Evolve/Imra for having remapped my 330D e92 auto (57 Plate 21K Miles) last Thursday evening.
I enjoyed the special offer for the evolve unit (535£) and drove to Luton to have it done for me.
They are really nice guys, Imra answered all my questions (including a good local restaurant) and was friendly. I arrived at 5pm and by 6.15pm everything was done, including a test run to make sure all felt right.

The car was a good all rounder before with great torque but power fell a bit flat above 3.5K rev. Now that it has been evolved, it is the ultimate car and I no longer fear to be outpowered by most cars.

First of all, Below 1,700 rpm the car feels almost identical and smooth, then the torque starts to rapidly pick up and by 2,500 rpm it is immense. It is simply amazing what 30% extra torque can make you feel. If you set the gear in DS and rev at 2,5k rpm and press the accelerator flat (on a dry road in a straight line please!), you will feel a shove in the back even in 4th and 5th gear!!!

The surprise does not end there, as the rev climbs up the car keeps pulling and pulling, and the power keeps going up and up till 4,5k rpm and it is time to change gear for another shove in the back with max torque.

I decided to test the acceleration with a friend that had an iphone and the dynolicious app. (raving about the accuracy of the software (7.50£) if set up properly). I did several runs on a dry and flat private road with "power brake", the results were very consistent and this is my best run:

0-10 MPH: 0.76 sec
0-20 MPH: 1.43 sec
0-30 MPH: 2.33 sec
0-40 MPH: 3.16 sec
0-50 MPH: 4.14 sec
0-60 MPH: 5.51 sec
0-70 MPH: 6.78 sec

Info: Sport DS mode, starting in 1st gear while power braking, maintaining rev at 1,500 rpm.
If you compare that result to mag test review done on a standard 335d, it is close:

10 0,5
20 1,2
30 2.0
40 3.0
50 4,1
60 5,6
70 7.0

I have to say it has been only 6 days but I have this new car feeling again.
Might report back in a couple of months if I manage to go and get result for the 1/4 mile with and without the Map. It simply feels 300 BHP!

What a great writeup! How much did Imran pay you?

Only joking - I'm waiing for a bit of cash to become 'available' then I'll be up to Luton for a remap on my 330d

This may sound an odd question but when the car is being driven like an old git and the extra performance not being used, is there a fuel economy improvement at all?
