Just found some details on the wiring behind the ACC system. http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/r.../e90/index.htm
Search for the term "Active Cruise" and you'll see several repeated sections that show the wiring diagram and overview data behind the ACC system. I found some cheap sensors (relative to the USA price of $2k+) on Germany's eBay site: http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_from=...All-Categories Based on my research, in order to even consider an ACC retrofit, you'll need to ensure that your E90 already has the dynamic cruise control feature (BMW option S544A) which applies the brakes during cruise control to regulate speed. For me, the biggest hurdle in this retrofit is the additional wiring required. If anyone has info on this, please share. SPECIAL REQUEST: If you know anyone that already has this feature installed on their E9x, try to get some photos of the wiring harness where it connects to the ACC sensor itself. Also, try to get some photos of where the ACC sensor harness taps into the existing electrical system and/or control module. |

I hate doing this kind of thing, but I can see in the dash the markers for the Adaptive cruise is there, and my 335xi does have the Dynamic cruise. I know the cruise stalk would have to change as well add the radar to the system. Has anyone accomplished this yet? In theory or practice? I drive 90% highway in Florida and this option is my favorite on the vehicles I sell.

Anyone know where the coding would be. Im soon to tackle this solo if I have to. I see the dash is already for it, I need the criuse stalk setup. Im certain of coding will be required. |

waiting for someone to tell me the coding is possible. I will buy the hardware, get the wiring tackled and do it, the software is my current hang up.
As well is there a module between the sensor and brain of the car? I need someone with the full layout of the setup so I can make it happen. And I will. |

My 2009 was taken out by a deer over a year ago so I abandoned the project. Now I have a 2008 and would love to see it done. I have adaptive cruise on my Grand Cherokee and love it I want it bad on my BMW. Someone has to do it and get it coded.

That is not correct. I have manual transmission with ACC and it works well. It occasionally indicate shift down but my 330 runs from 30km/h up to any legal speed in 5th gear. So I don't really miss a automatic transmission with ACC. I have driven over 200, 000 km with ACC mostly on. It made probably less than 10 or 20 mistakes and at no time it was uncomfortable on a mistake where it applied brakes unnecessarily. Its in my opinion the greatest option on my car.
