I finally did not get to go in November, but I am going early April for 4-5 days, will also be staying at the Fairmont. Looking forward to this trip. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll go over all of them, see where each spot is located and try to plan the daily outings.

Maybe next time!

Also I was very very impressed with the rich history of the city.

Does any folks here track their BMW with the Boston BMWCCA? There is a yearly track (HPDE) event in Mont-Tremblant (1.5 hrs north of Montreal) where the Boston folks come down for a track week-end. Montreal folks usually co-host the event. August 6-8 (check link below)

Just curious.

I've been to Tremblant for a PCA event. Love that track. Oh, and I love Montreal too.

Cool! Any plans of doing Tremblant again in the future? Yes, I love Montreal for it's many facets: Food, culture, entertainment etc.

Yes, started tracking it 2 years ago. I now do both HPDE and lapping. The avatar is a pic at Tremblant, just after corner 15, going to corner 1

This is me in my e36 M3 exiting Namro. Love that corner!

I have been playing around with the idea coming up this summer. But I am not sure if I want to drive the E90 335. I've heard about overheating issues and I don't want to be spending most of the time in the pits if I do decide to make the trip. Are you having good luck with your 335? Any issues so far?

So far so good, as a newbie the car was fine the first year, last year (2nd year) as an intermediate, I had 1 event where I almost reached 300F oil temperature. So I added an intercooler and additional oil cooler.

I had no heat issues at Tremblant with the long straights. Also Tremblant has fast corners, so understeering is not that bad with the staggered set-up, but very very frustrating and expensive (tire wise) at Calabogie (Ottawa) with never ending bends. I will be having a square set-up this year to remedy this. Hopefully that's all the mods I will need to keep tracking this car LOL!

So I don't expect heat to be an issue with the additional oil cooler. If it does, I might change the coolant mix, but I'll keep this as last resort....

Still have the e36M3? Any mods on it?

Unfortunately I no longer have the E36. IT was bone stock and it was a great car, track or otherwise. Amazingly reliable. I think I will have to do something about engine cooling before I bring the e90 out to the track. Very interested on how things work out for you with the mods you made.

I honestly don't think I will have any heat issues, the track where temp climbed was a very short one (less than a minute) where you are constantly braking and accelerating even using 2nd gear with just 1 straight to be able to cool off, never had heat issues at Tremblant (lowest gear used 3rd). So I guess with oil cooler you should be ok if you stay away from short, low speed tracks. The Intercooler will add consistency to your power delivery throughout the session.

I did those mods more as a precautionary measure, as I like to think all is running well.

I know a fellow tracker with a manual xi who has only the factory oil cooler and he might have done 40+ track days with his 335 without any heat issues.

Your e36 had large numberings on them, were you club racing?

I'm not quite at the club racing level...yet This was a PCA DE event. These were the numbers I could find, I would have preferred smaller. PCA has a a required size, these were much bigger than the requirement.

Ours are provided by the clubs and are rather small, fits on the windshield or side window. Anyhow, if you come down, there's a few of us e9x tracking/HPDE with our local BMWCCA Club (and other tracking clubs), regular meets for food, pics, mods etc.

Our sub forum is the most (or one of) chatty, we are into our second thread (the first got to over 1300 pages and had to be archived), this new one is nearing 200 pages, LOL!
