I know the ar design catted pipes are pretty immune to CEL but not sure how they are doing with the latest software. Maybe Andrew can chime in.

Seems to be hit or miss. Most early software revision cars have no issues. Seems the latest BMW software has been made MUCH more sensitive.

We will be offering our downpipes with HJS catalysts - but the price is going to be double - the catalysts are insanely expensive.

19 days and counting till i get the new whip! The dealership finally got it in this past Friday so i went and played with it. I'm just waiting for my G37 lease to be up already! But down payment already paid...and now it's time to play the waiting game!

So i finally got it on NYE! And of course, i put 450 miles on it over the long weekend LOL!

I'm already looking into modding. Got in touch with Mike from N54 and i'll be ordering the JB3, DCI, and BT Scanning tool from him in the very near future. Can anyone recommend mods for a leased car? Are the Forge DVs worth it? And i was thinking downpipes, but i wanted a set that wouldnt throw a CEL. Thanks for everyones help! Glad to finally be part of the BMW family!

I am also looking into getting a JB3 and DCI but I am wondering which is a better addition to it: The Downpipes or The Intercooler.

Power is downpipes.
Power and consistency is intercooler.

So, what would you get first? Or if only getting one, what would you get?

Intercooler. I'm getting one soon to accompany my GIAC S1. DP's are noise, heat and install/remove headaches.

Get a JB3 PNP + BT combo and an intercooler and/or methanol injection. Downpipes are great, but your gonna generate a lot of heat running Map 7/9 at WOT all day and heat soak without IAT reduction of some sort.

Only hotrod/Warren can seem to beat the heat and even he is finally upgrading.

DO NOT BUY A JB3 PnP NEW!!!
As much as I love Mike@N54Tuning for being such a great guy and giving me the best price new... a used JB3 is absolutely no different than a new one (unless it is damaged of course) and is MUCH cheaper.
Save your money and search the Turbo Engine Classifieds for a used JB3.
You can also buy an intake used from the classifieds in order to save some cash and just buy a new air filter for it. (basically a new intake)
Get an intercooler new from Helix, AMS, or Active Autowerke, you cant go wrong with any of those.
Go for Catless downpipes for sure (High flow cats are more expensive and give less power... completely useless). A&R Design FTW!!! (andrew@ardesign is always supporting his customers and constantly on the forum. customer service is A+ from what I hear! Although I haven't made use of it yet b/c the outstanding quality of the products.)
Any suspension mod/upgrade should be bought new.

Hope I helped!

Thanks for the help everyone! I actually bought a new pair of BMS DCI last night and installed them. Found them brand new on Craigslist, so i met up with the guy and bought them for $90 and got them on the spot. Fitment on the rear intake was pretty bad IMO...but i managed to get it on after some time and effort. Long story short...sounds great and will go great with the Forge DVs that i ordered.

As far as chip/tune...i'm starting to get pretty confused! A good friend of mine works for AWE Tuning and was telling all about the GIAC tune/reflash. In his opinion, it's a much better route to go with than the JB3. Doesnt put up as much power...but it's not much less either. Can anyone comment on this? Pros and cons of both JB3 and GIAC reflash?

They are two quite different things that usually appeal to different people. JB3 for outright power and ability to install/uninstall anywhere by yourself... Flash tune for 'buy it/forget it' style thing.
In most cases people who are very local to a flash centre choose the flash, those who are not go with a piggyback.

As far as power I think the JB3 pips it if your on otherwise standard and don't mind getting your nails a bit dirty

Keep in mind my car's leased. And my concern is taking it to the dealer and having them void my warranty. I can afford either, so price isnt the issue. And if power is relatively close, that doesnt make a different to me either. Ughhh...tough decision!

The beauty of the JB3 is apparent... in that you get to do it yourself. Especially handy for those times where you have to take your car into service.

I think you would be happy with either to be fair.

I've taken my car in with a flash before and plenty of work done, didn't get noticed at all. Same with a PROcede, and JB3... in that, uninstalled and took in and no issues whatsoever (tried them all, I'm a tune whore

Of course a piggy is a lot more work to take off compared to rolling upto a store, but if your too far from the store for it to be conveniently uninstalled then a piggy is probably best

(it really is 50/50 though, just go test it out and keep the one you actually like, that would give you a chance to try installing a piggyback to see if you are comfortable with getting under the hood each time)

If you concerned about warranty/flash combination go with JB3 for sure. GIAC will offer the flashloader in the near future, but no ETA yet. With JB3 as other said you can do the install/remove yourself. I myself a very happy previous JB tunes user. If you need comparisons or reviews there are plenty posted.

I've read many reviews...and both seem to work great. That's not my concern. In all honesty, i would like the power of the JB3...but the install/uninstall deal and the dealer visits are what i'm worried about. My decision's going to have to made very soon, considering i made an appointment for Monday morning to have the GIAC reflash done to my ECU at AWE Tuning. I can always call and cancel...just want to be sure of my decision.
The good thing is, they're not far from me. But how much will i get charged to have them reflash back to stock before i go to the dealer and then tune it once again when i'm done?

Your BMW is such a huge upgrade from those other cars....if I were you I would just enjoy the car stock and learn to drive it well before you start adding all this other stuff to it.

(I'm sure this will make me very unpopular in this thread)
