Jeff, congrats to your 3rd place finish. That was definitely a nice drift out of the chicane. On Saturday while giving ride to a friend of mine, I pretty much drifted the entire 2nd half of the double apex turn.

Harold's car will do that whole corner sideways in 4th gear ![]() (I assume you mean the fast double-apex left coming onto the front straight) |

No, I meant the first sort of "U" turn in the in-field section. A lot of people took a line where they would run wide and miss the 1st apex, then late apex the 2nd. But I found that taking it as a double apex was quicker. Just curious, which line did you take for that turn?

That corner is all about exit speed because it leads onto a long straight, so the line there really depends on the car. A low-hp car (or an AWD car) will want something like what you did, using both apexes and a constant radius to keep up mid-corner speed. The low-hp car, because you need to keep the speed up as much as possible, and the AWD car because it does not need the large exit radius to put power down. But, for Harold's RWD 335i with good power and not much tire, it needed the biggest corner-exit radius line possible -- which meant I would be about 1 car width to the right of the first apex, brake really deep, rotate the car in the middle of the corner, and that would set me up for a big exit radius which allowed the car to put power down much better. - Sounds more like how the other people in your group were doing it. This seems a little counter-intuitive but for Harold's car, it worked. Here's me attempting to drift that corner.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAtZ2kNRxXk |

Congrats Harold and Jeff. What spring rates f/r did you end up using for that track?

Thanks Harold! Can't wait for my AST/Swift to arrive in March.
