I know this thread is a little dated but I recently purchased the remotekey for my 06 325i and am very impressed with the system. I installed it yesterday and am pleased with how well it performs and how simple the install was. Thanks for an awesome product!

Caveat Emptor
!!!! FYI - Buyer beware of this product / DIY !!!!
The directions that shipped with the package were somewhere between unclear and blatantly incorrect for the E92. We didn't know that we were working off of the wrong directions until we were completed and nothing seemed to work (i.e., after the wrong wires had been snipped/T-clamped) The EAS RemoteKey product never worked, and the mod (as done by the directions provided) caused 5 faults in the DME, almost voiding the factory warranty on my E92. Ended up having to pay $300 to have the wires professionally repaired so as to be able to take it back to the dealer without DME faults so I could have service performed. The pictures on this DIY are very misleading as the wire colors that are described exist in about 3 different bundles, and there's no clear explanation as to which bundle should actually be tapped. EAS was willing to provide the correct directions after finally reaching them (which for some reason they don't even have a link to on their website...we looked for about 3 hours all over the net). As soon as EAS realized that their blunder had led to major problems, helpfulness was over and somehow it became "our fault". What was described as an "easy install" turned out to be a DIY nightmare due to bad/wrong directions and little to no assistance from EAS. Word to the wise; caveat emptor with this product/supplier. ![]() |

I don't want to point fingers but this could have been avoided had you searched. Granted when buying a $300 unit you shouldnt have to go digging for anything. The RK+ is a remarkable unit, and Mods4Cars is fantastic when it comes to support and knowledge of their product. They are the ones to go to for everything. This quote was from my thread about my RK+ unit. It was installed by a professional who did a flawless job the first time and the unit works exactly how it should. Quote:

Agreed. Mods4cars had the diy on their site. The install wasn't "a breeze" by any stretch, but I managed to get it done by myself, and i'm no better than average at that kind of stuff.

The original instructions have not changed, either the instructions outlined above or the ones on the M4C (which we wrote also) can be used.
I will have to agree with the above comments. While we attempt to cover every possible detail in the DIY, this is not meant as a training guide for those that have little to no experience in +12V electronics. As always, please ask questions before taking part in any installation you are unfamiliar with beforehand. If unsure - consult a professional for the install.

I'm seriously not the type of person to complain or drive negative feedback where it's unwarranted, but this situation was frustrating to no end.

Installation is about 15min if alarm emulation is not needed. If adding the blinking mirror LED and piezo buzzer - this is about 45 min longer.
