+4 theres a shit load of weak fitment here. I notice when you make fun of someones mod (calling it rice)...it causes the same damaging effects as calling a chick fat. They start to bitch and cry and hate you foe life.

You post pictures to get opinions, and that's all these are. If playing it safe keeps my car looking good, I'm staying "old school". Remember...just because you CAN do something doesn't always mean you SHOULD. |

hellasiht..
looks like the tyre guy f´ed up the order and fitted whatever he had lying.. i bet that is exactly how the very first stretches came about.. some pennybroke vw owner buys the wrong offset wheels, and tries to mount his old 195 55 16 tyres.. and hey presto

i agree that it takes some serious calculation to pull this off. i think for the most part it looks good, just doesnt fit BMWs...theres no way id stretch the tire that much it just looks stupid. some stretch is ok but in my opinion that extreme is just not for BMWs. but everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. Lonestar22s wheels and tires are about as flush as you can get and he has stretched tires and it actually looks great! But i wouldnt go any smaller tire than he has.Post some pics eraun.

hella flush = really stupid. Rims are not designed for tyres to be mounted like that. I'm sure your insurance company would wipe you if you had an accident where the tyre blew out. Hell ... if I was your insurrance company I'd wipe you just for thinking that was a good idea.

I don't care about your opinion on it, I was just letting you know you were wrong about the facts.

but if you look at the majority of the pics posted.. the et is wrong, as the wheels come outside the wheel arch, which is in principle illegal..
also the tyres used are much much thinner than should be used , so my statement isnt incorrect at all. ' Maybe the theory of how it came about is, but the evidence is all over this thread of people that cant work out the correct ET or tyre size ..

The law is against tire tread extending past the fenders (not the wheel), hence the need to stretch to meet this requirement.
Wheel width and tire size causes stretch. Offset is independent of this. Lower offset allows for wider lip. |
