"BMW Canada can suck my dick."

Well put, lol. After all it's just business. If BMW can't figure out proper pricing for Canadian market to keep the customers, it's their problem. As a customer our goal is to get the goods for less.

It is absolutely nothing like buying pirated DVDs. Buy a pirated DVD and 0% of the proceeds go to the owners of the copyright. Buy a US BMW and ship it to Canada and exactly the same amount of money flows back to BMW as if a US resident had bought the vehicle.

There are no trade agreements between BMW and individual countries; there are duties levied by countries on the import of different categories of goods. The restriction on selling new vehicles to Canadians has nothing to do with trade policy; it's purely a business decision made by BMW.

Also, people are talking about buying used vehicles, not new vehicles. Everyone knows it is a violation of the dealer's agreement with BMW USA to sell new cars to non-US residents.

all this buying over the border is like buy pirated DVD's there are trade agreements between BMW and each country...it is clearly expressed as not to be done with the sole intent of shipping a new bmw out of the country...now that being said the price im sure is attractive... but becareful BMW has a list of people that Frauded a dealer into selling a non resident a New car to ship out of the country.

I personally dont care what any one does but know you are breaking rules and being dishonest

Importing is the way to go if you can save money when all is said or done.

And to the guy who said that importing is dishonest, your logic is flawed. Saving money is saving money. Corporate business today is HARDLY driven on the basis of honesty and by abiding by rules. Government intervention has led to rules in business. You can bet your ass that if there weren't any rules and restrictions, BMW NA would go about things "differently."

TO the guy who saved $11,000 on your purchase. Congrats and enjoy! You beat the system LEGALLY and exercised your right to get the best deal.

I plan on importing my next BMW from the States as well if the savings will be worth it. It really is an easy process if you know what is involved and you plan accordingly

We're talking about separate populations here...people who flip thru
cars and people who keep them for longer durations
.

I saved nearly $15,000....actually, probably a bit more.
I already mentioned that in my post, if you wanna marry it and grow old with it, have all the time in the world to run to buffalo everytime you need an oil change or brakes etc. go for it

The two populations idea doesnt make sense? If you wanna sell your car early you should be able to, even for a US car.
Otherwise you are tied to it for atleast a couple of years, whereas with a canadian vehicle you will get back more of your investment (minus depreciation) in a shorter duration.

Its like purchasing a bond with a higher return and a shorter duration VS a bond with a longer duration and smaller return!

Exactly, which is why the first bond (being the Canadian BMW) is priced at a premium (HIGHER)
and the second bond (being the US BMW) is priced at a discount (LOWER)

However, not to beat a deadhorse, just read and understand the posts above and refer to my comments made earlier below!
