lol, how is your car doing anyway man? Not pulling the bumper like I did on mine certainly saved a decent amount of time.

I tried looking, but what is the pressure drop across the AMS?? And as I understand, AMS claims 11rwhp gain on stock car, while Helix is claiming 22rwhp gain?? Can't be right since it seems that most members on this forum prefer the AMS over anything else...
And anyone know the IAT drop with the AMS unit compared to the Forge unit (Forge is 27 degrees F, I believe...)

To the OP, VK is a great solution if you don't want to do any trimming or cut the clamps because it utilizes the factory C-clamps. Personally I prefer the slightly less efficient airflow of the factory c-clamps to cutting and leaving tampering evidence.

Anyone that thinks BMW can void the warranty for installing a new intercooler is out of their mind. It does give them reason to dig deeper, but they cannot void it for that. It would be like voiding your warranty for putting better tires on the car that the junk runflats.

Thanks for all the input guys but I went with the AA intercooler since it offers 32% larger core than the nearest competitor and nearly 100% increase in facial area over stock. I dint mind doing any cuts so I based my decision on performance.

Wait until you get it. It is a huge intercooler! I did a whole lot of testing with it.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...06&postcount=8 Don't kid yourself, if something serious goes wrong, they (BMW field rep, not the dealership) will be looking for anything to blame regardless of whether it is only beneficial to a motor or not. The dealership is out of the picture at that point and any handshake agreements are out the window. That said, it's probably the least likely mod to void a warranty other than DCI. The way I look at it, a complete engine from the wrecker is about $5.5k plus probably another 2 or 3 thousand for labour, so as long as you can handle a $7-9k bill in the worst case scenario, you'll be fine. I'm ok with that if it came down to it. |
