But then again, it could be a total waste of time too.

I will probably (realistically) never track this car again, or if I do, maybe once or twice.

My driving normally is pretty calm so I wouldn't expect too many problems to be honest... On the 'Ring, I strongly doubt I will push it unless LITERALLY Tony or one of you serious veterans is sat next to me giving me very clear encouragement and sharing your understanding of the track!

Tough choice, as it's a lot of money but of course, I would spend it rather than blow my car apart!

Matt
though call, with which I cannot help you, especially as I have no experience with the mods you have and the impact of these on the temp. My personal experience however says that if it is your first time, you will barely use all the power and have your hands full with the track and traffic, so the car will not heat up like it would do running sub 8minutes BTG. Let's see what Tony and other guys with modded E9X say.

Anyway... you will have a blast in April

Well it was a stupid question... I could have said 'Tony, in his car XYZ, Tony in my car ABC, me in Tony's car 123 etc etc etc'

Anyway, the times are clearly a bit silly because they are all different drivers too. The 135 has no listed name, whereas the 135i is Sportauto which I guess is a mag.

I, personally, will not even be aiming for the golden '10 minutes' because I will probably die if I do.

Anyone new to the Ring and/or for that matter anyone who still isnt fully confident and comfortable driving around the Ring at speed shouldnt even be thinking about times. To all intents and purposes times are completely irrelevant anyway. Many times i will be on a super fast lap, hitting all my entry/apex/exit points, dry conditions, car singing etc and on for a good lap time, then all of a sudden you come into heavy traffic or some gimp who wont let you pass or is trying to get you to overtake on the wrong side etc and it throws the lap time out of the window. IMO the ONLY thing a Ring virgin should be concentrating on is that theyre driving safely, within their limits and respecting the rules. Even someone like Tony will admit that they get caught out by the Ring on occasions, despite the amount of laps he has under his belt. Ring knowledge is key and takes time to earn.

I'm currently trying to motivate some Luxembourg and German BMW drivers to join our Nürburgring trip - two from Luxembourg and several from Germany are potentially interested.

Going to be a great event!

+1

keep DSC on, look in your mirrors, and especially for the people in the UK, move to the right to let people pass you. (a lot of UK people tend to move to the left but passing on the right on the RING is not allowed but in these occasions can happen leading to tricky situations) Do not drive in the wet!
Better brake early, get to know the corners and throttle nicely out of the corner.
Before you drive yourself, check if you can do some laps sitting next to somebody.
Believe me, an accident happens really fast. Every day several cars are totaled there. Would be too bad if it is yours. I know what I am talking about, last year I totaled my Z4M there. On the last lap of the day, not even pushing hard. I can tell you, IT SUCKS!!!

From my own experiance the UK guys don't have problems with ''ring etiquette'' AND german road law.

Its other Europeans who seem to not have a clue on these things.

my post was not meant in an offended way, sorry you take it that way. Moving over to the left is a natural reaction for somebody from the UK, so especially when you are first time there and it gets stressful with some GT3 up your a** it is normal for a UK person to move to left. I would have the same when driving in the UK.

Unfortunately for you guys.... I am now booked on the train as per the first post and also booked the Mercure.

Coming with my mate Ant who has been before and also helps with some photos etc so should be a good one.

Hoping to come again later in the year too!!

I will be bringing the M3 Tony, I hope you don't mind.

It's in sound mechanical order - I have a few bits to sort but so far I have really enjoyed the drive and after the conversation we had, I find the back end has no desire to give up as badly as I thought it would!!
