Sheps, for what its worth edc was on my M6. comfort was comfortable and sport was really firm. The difference was noticeable.

However i think if the standard m3 is in between those settings, and i think you will be spot on with your assumption, it will ride well in most circumstances. I would buy the other gadgets that you will use 99% of the time, rather than a residual saving spec item, that unless you want to shave an extra 2 tenths off your bedford laptime really wont be missed at all.

Good advice Steve.

Si,the extra cost would be worth it if you were really going to get the full benefit of it during your tenure of the vehicle, but if you're not planning on tracking it on a regular basis, £1000 could be better spent on other gizmo's.

Is it the cabriolet you're getting

No, I think I'm done with cabriolets, thank you! The only reason I won't have the saloon is the loss of the carbon roof over the coupe!

The SLK actually goes as soon as I get back from New York (my mum is going to have it) - I won't tell you what I've got as an interim until the new car arrives, as it is so bad you might aherniate yourself with laughter.

Thanks for the advice Steve - given my total lack of concern with residuals I think sun protection glass and Logic 7 are looking favourite over EDC.

You can always vinyl wrap the roof, the weight difference is pretty insignificant .

Curious to see what the difference is!
Yes I have the monthly paper guide, the one that all dealers thumb through as they rub their chin and suck through their teeth......

Come on - it's obvious that you'll NEVER get 100% of any option back ,but maybe better 75% of one than 0% of another...

With glasses you can't quote without assumed options, for E9x M3 it just says "all prices assume 19inch & EDC, Vehicles without run-in service considerably less".

DCT variants are listed as a separate model, as all auto's are, but prices still insist on 19inch and EDC.

EDC is a must imho if you want to really drive the car hard on country twisting roads there is a big difference using the EDC ,I would never opt to have an M3 without it, worth every penny .

I know you won't get the money back on options but I was just curious if a car without EDC could actually say be worth 2k less at resale time, In that case the £1250 spent now is essential (If you are buying the car)

Thats all I meant, prob badly worded!

I've witnessed your (Sheps) driving when I followed you at one of the meets and think you would be wise to get the EDC. After all you are buying the M3 to drive, not to listen to nice music in. With the V8 burbling, what more could you want?

Close your eyes steve.....

M3-Fast - I was thinking maybe EDC would be similar to the 1k used price difference for pro nav/i drive when the option was 2k new.

A 50% return on that option.

Not sure how I should take that?! Was I 'pressing on' a bit? I do like to peddle hard when conditions permit!

I'd say 'pressing on' would be a fair description.

I regret not waiting for an EDC car - I feel that the car could go faster on bumpy roads with it in comfort mode.

However I wish I had the logic 7 more.

Actually just sold my car to an audi dealer - they did not ask about EDC and I got quite a good price.

you will definately get a higher resale price for a car with EDC and that is a fact and also makes it a worthwhile initial outlay .
