I'm the opposite. Adding tint made my 335 look cleaner, newer, and more expensive

I agree about the rear window. It's a PITA to remove the tint without damaging your rear defroster. In disaster scenario's you'd end up needing a whole new back window. (Goodluck with that from your tint shop)

Of course I'm in FL, who needs a rear defroster anyway

You compared pics of dead winter, dirty salty car, with ugly winter wheels, vs a fresh clean car in the spring/summer. Naturally, depressing winter pics wont look as good.

When I had my 335i tinted and driving with my girlfriend through NYC, we stumbled upon NYPD check point. About 3 or 4 cars before the check point, I rolled all my tinted windows down and continued onward... Once at point, officer looked inside my car though the window that is rolled down, and barked,- "Roll up the window half way!". I did as he requested, and once the window was rolled half way up officer placed some sort of device and tested my tint with it. I started thinking how much of a ticket damage it's going to be, but the officer started a speach,- "You see, your side window is 35%, but it should be 100%, just like the windshield- all your windows have to be as clear as your windshield... ". Next... he just let me go... no ticket , no nothing. I think they can only give you tint summons if they catch in the act with the tint. When windows rolled down, technicly means driving without tint? It's either that or he was pleased with my girlfriend giving him smiles?

That would be untrue. You get tint tickets whether your windows are up or down. He didn't give you a tint ticket because NYPD generally has better shit to do. Plus, its 35%, you can see through it. Its the guy who looks like he might have a bomb in the trunk with 5% all around that they'll screw with for tint.

Also, NY tint laws around be nothing on the windshield and front windows, 35% on the rear 2, and you can paint your rear windshield black if you want.

I was just about to post something almost exactly like this lol

Your winter pics are in dull cloudy weather, or the car is sitting in the shade as opposed to in the bright clear sunny spring/summer.

I dont see how tint ruins the "classy" look. I think the black wheels ruined it.

Tint looks 10000 times better imo.

Black rims are kinda off on the car.

They do downgrade the appearance of the car, and the extra slush/dirt does not help the look. I personally would use the 162s for winter and get some 19s for summer

Agreed with everyone who said DITCH the rims and KEEP the tint. Not many cars can pull off that all blacked-out look. I've seen some on this site that looked pretty nice, but most look "ghetto"! Sometimes the blacked-out look reminds me of Civics or the like that roll without their hup caps trying to be gangsta... LOL.

Agreed, it's the wheels and dirty car throwing it off. Come summer with the tints and 162s, I think it'll look great.

On a personal note, I don't understand black wheels. They just don't work for me at all.

The blacked out look really only works for those Socal guys who never really get any BAD weather. An all black look is not a good idea for a winter setup.
