Makes me want to sell my 335 when people do this.
I hate replica cars, unless its an AC Cobra of a proper RS200 replica. There different. Making your 320 look like a 335 is a little too ''Wannabe''.. Im all for modifications but to make it look like something it aint is a little pointless In MyHumbleOpinion. Stick the 320d badge back on.

People who know, will know (i.e. this aint a 335). People who dont know, will know once they overtake you. Same for twin pipes 325/330 copy pipes ...the 320 has a great single chrome pipe..keep it that way!

and yet the car sits on his drive, he pays the insurance and puts fuel in it...makes you think huh? the cheek ay?
its your car , if you want to put a machine gun with a bazooka attached to it, as long as its legal.....GO FOR IT! i dont think that putting a dual exhaust on is a bad thing....why are you guys not shouting from the rooftops about a double exhaust trim then??? because that also certainly says that the car is 330/325 when we all know its not. i dont personally like the whole badges thing and do think that people should refrain from m badges and the like BUT that is up to them and i will only voice my opinions when asked. tell me this...why is sticking a 320 badge on a higher engine car thought to be stealthy and the vice versa shunned upon sooo much. at the end of the day these are all MODS and as such get the owner to a point where they feel their car should be. hell lets now all get angry at the people on here who want to fit LCI headlights to their e90's because we ALL know that that would attempt to make their cars younger. F*** IT!! lets now ban remaps, suspension upgrades, light bulb upgrades, the whole lot of em because they didnt come from the factory that way and so why would we want to make our OWN cars as fast or look as good as other higher end marques. rant over.....BRING IT ON!!!! |

Modding is appreciated here. Just not making your car look like a faster model.

I must confess I wouldn't know that the above car was not a 335d/i - certainly would not expect it to be a 320d.
As the 335 pipes look totally stock, and do look good, it is debatable whether this is really socially illegal. Is it any worse than putting a M Sport kit on a 320d in the first place? Probably not, and I have no issue with M Sport looks on lower models. Now - here's a dilemma - if you were shopping for a 320d M Sport coupe, and found 2 identical cars for sale - 1 with the stock single pipe, and 1 with the 335 pipes - which would you TRUTHFULLY buy? Got to confess, I'd take the 320d with 335 double pipes, shake my head in dissapproval, tut and say the last owner did it, while secretly thinking it looks a lot better! A no point would I be pretending it was a 335 though. |

MSport is a trim level that is available across the entire range of engines (bar the very lowest) The twin exhaust pipes are only available on the flagship diesel and petrol engines, and therefore it is a sign that the car is a 335i/d. Adding an MSport body kit is not the equivalent of adding a part that is only available with a bigger engine. If however, this option was offered by the manufacturer then I would definitely get it, but then it would not be restricted to 335i/d and no one will make any incorrect assumptions about the engine size (it would be just like MSport trim). |

I posted at the start of this post and I still stand bye not fitting the 335 pipes to a 320 but I now feel like a bit of a muppet. My 320 had the single down pipe and it just looked shite. For the op it only cost me 40 quid for a twin exit. I cut the old pipe back and welded the new twin in it's place. It has no performance gain just looks much better! A few guys in this post have said a pipe either side Aka 335 is wrong which I agree with but why do I get away with a twin on one side an yet 335 is just not right? I've got csl rims but it's not a csl? M3 lip but it's not an m3. Don't get me wrong I believe I mod my cars tastefully and as a forum we generally agree about each others cars but it's just makin me think. I'll shut my neck now!

Perhaps he likes the look of the 335 pipes rather than he wants people to think he's got a mighty 335?
Makes me laugh - don't do this, don't do that it's a much nicer looking rear end than the 320 or 330 IMO, so go for it |

That's what made me post mate. Your right though just look at the pics of that other motor. It might be a 320 but that rear is mint! Not overdone quad style but looks nice!

this thread is sounding all very elitist, and i'm not liking it much..
stick them on, it will be fine... you get the looks of the 335 with the economy of a 320, good trade off imo |

@ adj... in that case im i'm sure alaniow should also recieve a pm telling him to put his steering back to stock since 320's dont have paddleshifters, @mikey...mypoint exactly and to be honest if was itting in traffic next to this guy, the only thing id think was that it was a nice car.
finally, to add to it all....doing this mod usually deletes the rear silencers which makes for a better sound than most aftermarket exhausts....and apparently will not fail an MOT. |
