Hi guys, this is Phill@BSH, just wanted to post a couple of things regarding the new system. For all sales inquiries, please talk to one of our supporting dealers.
All of our catch cans feature aluminum mesh baffling on the inside. This approach is used to obviously aid in the condensing of the oil vapors and also to allow the catch can to "breath". Ultimately the goal of the PCV system is to vent pressure from the engine so when designing our catch can lineup this was kept as the first priority with an efficient oil separation system being a VERY close second. No sense in robbing Peter to pay Paul would be the easy way to put it. Here is an image of the baffling. And this is what we are collecting!! Hope that was what you were looking for. Thank you for your interest. |

Please keep in mind that the majority of automotive consumers neglect to change their oil on time, try and tell that same person to "Drain your catch can" and well I am sure you can see how that would end up.

Thats quite a lot of "stuff". When I checked my CC it was just oil, why does yours look like transmission fluid though LOL? That fluid in that pic is not from a N54 engine BMW? Correct? Last edited by Jeff@TopGearSolutions; 03-01-2010 at 12:51 PM.. |

That is correct. Thats from an FSI engine, aka the most horribly disgusting motor on the planet. As we have been spending more and more time with BMW's I am getting more and more eager to make the switch.

True, never have seen a worse gunked up head than on the VAG FSI motors that have gone on the extended period oil services. People complain about the factory intervals here, they should goggle up some images of those motors on the factory intervals!

I strongly believe that an oil catch can is a great thing to have. Considering that we have direct injection motors, meaning the fuel gets inserted in the combustion chamber and not in the intake manifold, we should be seeing a lot less carbon deposits on the valves.
...provided that we are able to deal with the oil fumes properly. On the other hand, should any fumes manage to escape from the oil catch can, they will definitely be captured by our intercoolers. In all fairness, removing your intercooler and cleaning it once a year is a small price to pay in my opinion. |

More pics of the installed OCC please! I'd like to see how the adapters connect to the PCV.
Also, what's with the o-rings? Those were a big source of leaks on the RR OCC....

Now for some more pictures. All production fittings feature a military spec black hard anodized finish, all hose clamps, dont have such long legs on them once installed!!
The O-rings seen in the initial photos are part of a "twin seal" design. The billet fittings are machined to carry two O-rings each. They are designed to directly plug into the factory pcv connections without using some crazy plastic deals... This way you get a clean simple installation that maintains -10 sizing throughout. All the fittings but the one with the angle fitting are push lock so you dont need a bunch of hose clamps cluttering up an otherwise gorgeous engine bay. Here are the pics, let me know if I can provide any further explanation. |

Actually the opposite is true. Since no fuel hence no cleaning additives pass by the valves carbon build up is greater. It opens the great dabate of top engine cleaning etc.. If you don't believe this just search, there are a few people who have already had carbon issues with valves on the N54 and many many more on other platforms.

This looks like a great system.... and so far support from the manufacture and the retailer seem top notch. Definitely considering the BSH oil catch can over the compilation now.

The BSH Competition Oil Catch Can is priced competitively with other kits on the market and I do strongly believe that it is ONE if not the best catch cans out there.
