Swiftcover

Just renewed mine at £401. One accident and one SP30.

Not too bad, has gone up by about £50.

Go Compare, shit cheapest comparable was over £500.

If you've got another car it maybe worth checking out admirals multicar. For my 335i coupe and the missus 1.4 fiesta it's £805 for both. We're both 28 I've got 5 years NCB and missus has 7 years, both fully comp on both cars.

The split was £590 for the BM, £215 for the Fiesta

I had this issue a few years back. I lost my license and had a new one issued. My points (which had expired) we not on my license when i received the new one.

At renewal time, I had no idea of the date of the SP30 other than a vague recollection that it was some time in autumn 4 and a bit years before! I called the DVLA and was told that as it had been removed from my record they were legally obliged to delete the information and were unable to give me the date and type etc. I was then informed that the insurance companies who ask for this info shouldn't be as there is no way for them to actually check.

I ended up moving to a company who didn't ask that far back, so I didn't actually have to make a decision what to do. All the companies that I spoke to who wanted 5 years had no idea what to do when I told them I couldn't give them the info and the DVLA couldn't either!

Does seem expensive? and as people have said must be postcode related.

I have got my 335i insured through Chris Knott (just google it for contact telephone number)

30yrs, Full NCB - Protected, SP30, £200 excess - Paid £500. I made an enquiry with regards to a remap when I contemplated it once and it was an additional £125 per year for upto +60bhp.

I use A Plan, on my 335i touring I was paying £440, most online quotes were nearer £1500!!

That was at 34, 2 SP30's and parked on the street.

Just recently obtained a quote for my 335i (no mods) from Kwik Fit who are underwritten by Allianz following a load of grief from Swiftcover trying to insure my non-rft's. I'm 37 years old, full no claims, with protection & no points etc £280. However I live in a low crime area (Cornwall) which I think really has a bearing on your final premium. I stuck with Swiftcover in the end only after nearly pulling my teeth out for an answer about covering non-rft's! I'm paying about £350 with them.

I'd strongly recommend giving Chris Knott a go!

Use my code as well

Saved me over £200 on the next cheapest and they've also been brilliant service. I had to claim a couple of months ago and they were very friendly / helpful. Brilliant really all round.

A Plan - NO quote

Privilege (OAPs only) - almost heard a laugh - No quote

Chris Knott - £1700, no mods allowed.

Adrian Flux - NO quote, then put me through to Swinton, who then quoted £1800

Won't bother with Admiral multicar as the BM only was >£2000 standard with normal Admiral.

Doomed.

Are the surrounding areas rough?

I know this is a Manchester postcode and some areas can be pretty risky as far as insurance companies are concerned (Gorton comes to mind, though I know this is quite a way from where you are).

Yep, we live in a nice bit surrounded by sh#t

Within a 2 mile radius we have Moss Side, Hulme, Wythenshawe, Chorlton on Medlock, Longsight, Rusholme, Stretford etc which are all Gang/crime hotspots and basically not to be entered at night away from the main street. Lots of shootings etc, although not as bad as it was say 5 years ago.

....and the Nell Lane Estate next door, which is one of the most deprived estates in the country.

Like I said, no. 13 (5 houses down from us) on our street were robbed of their new Golf GTI, at gunpoint last summer in the their own house.

I put a private plate on the car straight away to hide the fact it was new the dealer said he'd never heard of that before, usually people do it to hide the fact its OLD!

Just after I got the new 335i, an old E36 M3 pulled up outside the house alongside the car - blocking the road, and four really shady blokes got out, got out and walked round my car, looking in the windows and eyeing it up. I watched them through the lounge window and the driver lifted his shades and stared at me for what seemed like ages. They then jumped in the car and turned round and sped off, having plainly just come up our street to look at my motor. I reported it to the police, the car they were in was stolen.

The police said I should take comfort from the fact that powerful Estate cars don't get nicked very often as gangsters aren't too keen on family look, they much prefer the bad boy saloon versions.

Didn't sleep for days.

Funny when I spell it out makes me think WTF are we doing here?

Moving back to Stafford next spring as we don't want the little girl to go to school with these scumbags.

I am with DL which are a little more expensive but I prefer them.

£560 for the Porka and that is with me, the misses, business use , 1 non fault and full no claims.

Misses 325d M Sport is even cheaper, £350 and the same as above.

Must be the post code. Try another postcode and see if it makes a difference.

I had a simular experience in my old house with my Porka when I got it, being white it stands out like a sore thumb and I caught someone parked over our drive at 11pm taking a photo, they saw me jumped in the car and drove off. No nothing ever happend but it scared the crap out of me as it looked like a steal to order which means they would come in and get the keys. I moved the car that night and didnt bring it back for a few weeks. I lived in a nice area with no real history of this sort of thing but becuase it was a main road it just stood out.

Shame we have to put up with stuff like this but its comes with having a nice car.
