But then again, you already know this. **edit** Mike, the BT Tool can clear the speed sensor module also? Or where ever it is that the max speed is stored? |

The PROcede cant show you codes only delete them? correct?
So i would also go as far as saying not only is it a very good tool to have for any N54 owner, tuned or not, but along with any PROcede users who would like to see the codes they are thorwing and what they are? |

From: Bavarian Technic [mailto:support@bavariantechnic.com] Sent: Thursday, January 28, 2010 6:32 PM Subject: Re: Reading DME stored values HI, If the information is not presented in either of those locations, it is most probable that the information is not available in the ECU. There might be a chance that it is stored, but that we don't ask for it. Though this scenario is unlikely. Owen On Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 3:02 PM Owen, Thank you for the quick response. If I am not able to find this information in either of these locations does that mean that it is not stored by the ECU? Thanks again From: Bavarian Technic [mailto:support@bavariantechnic.com] Sent: Thursday, January 28, 2010 2:37 PM Subject: Re: Reading DME stored values Hello, Thanks for your question. I am not aware of any specific location for this information, but if it is available it would likely be found under the Actual Values or Identification for the control unit in your car. I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any further questions. Owen Sutton Bavarian Technic LLC www.bavariantechnic.com On Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 9:41 AM Hi, I currently own an enthusiasts cable that I use on my BMW 335 and have a question about reading stored values. It is my understanding that the ECU stores certain min/max and count variables (e.g. max RPM, max road speed, number of times the DTC has been disengaged, etc) Is this something that can be read via the BT cable? Thanks |

Shiv, I do have a question... what if the car is throwing codes that say the dealer needs to see to determine if something is wrong with the car? Does the Procede automatically delete these codes? That would be the one reason that maybe a BT Tool would be useful right?
Thanks

eventually, as a user definable option, you can tell the procede what codes to automatically delete (o2/"tuner" related will be the most common). If you ever had a problem and for some reason deleted codes you needed the dealer to see, after you removed the procede the codes would come back (if it was a real problem).

The PROcede software does show the DME codes at this current time. Other modules may be added if needed. |

We all lived for 2 - 3 years without the BT interface. However, once it became available, it should be a part of the tool chest if no other methods are available. That said, I have not used mine for code reading/clearing for some time; just the PROcede interface.

I had long cranks, started up my laptop and checked the code via procede. Saw the code and cleared it out. Made sure i could repro the codes with startup, then removed the procede and took the car to the dealer for a replacement.
I have done some data logs, but as far as the BT cable goes.. i dont need it at all. I think it may be necessary if you have a tune that throws codes ( GIAC/JB3/JB+/SSTT depending on your settings ect).. but its not for me. I dont need to do anything with airbags or anything else like that.. if it comes to that I might buy it.. but it hasnt.

I once emailed Duram at BT about PUMA data and he confessed to me that "only BMW knows what data is stored and read in a PUMA case"......so not even the staff at Bavarian Technic know with certainty what is stored deep down in the ECU. How then can you know this? Last edited by Ilma; 03-04-2010 at 12:35 AM.. |

Maybe they are talking about going module by module. At any rate, the most important codes are from the "N54 - Engine/ECU" module. Which you cannot pick and choose. |
