I never said the Helix would cause cars to overheat but stating you have over 200 units on the market doesn't prove that there may or may not be a change in coolant temps.

To be honest I like the Helix FMIC and I'm not bashing it at all. I haven't made any false accusations saying cars with Helix intercoolers are or will overheat but just because nobody has complain or done datalog comparisons of any increased coolant temps after adding the intercooler doesn't mean the possibility isn't there.

the Helix only affects 3" at the very bottom of the radiator. the entire radiator portion as well as the helix fmic is cooled down by an electric fan, so it is constantly being cooled even at idle and low speed cruise conditions. when we were in the r&d phase we did extensive testing using a thermal scanner on the intercooler face to make sure that the entire unit was working to cool the charge air. by the 1st 1/4 across the width of the core the temps dropped dramatically to the point where the temp differential between the exit temps(heated ambient air) and the coolant temps would allow more than adequate cooling. most of these temp scans were done on the dyno with much less airflow across the core than would be seen in a road going situation. In our road going tests we tortured my car on the freeway with multiple back to back 2-4 gear runs trying to heatsoak the unit, we were monitoring everything and we didnt see any temp rises in coolant temps beyond what we saw using the same tests with the stock intercooler.

to answer your question... i do agree that if you covered most or all of the radiator(on any car) with a large intercooler it "could" theoretically cause a cooling issue but even with the larger face units on the market(stett, aa) there have been no reports of adverse effects on coolant temps on the N54 engined cars.

***ON A RELATED NOTE*** On any car the best way to aid the radiator is to remove some of the rubber grommet on the firewall cowl to allow the heated underhood air to escape at the windshield!

Hello guys,

Sorry I have some how missed this thread. We are still very much in business. I have some issues to resolve with a former investor who is claiming himself to be a partner and feels he is entitled to a share of any profits derived from the sale of our intercooler. That issue will be resolved very shortly. As for our intercooler, I will have pics, specs, dynos, and all other relevant data up for you in the upcoming weeks also I think you will be very happy with the price.
