Depends on your age. That's where all the newb students hang out.
Everyone else is out on 4th and 5th according to my friends. There's only one other town I will ever move to in Texas and that's Austin. Spec, it's not warm weather year round, but from what you're use to I suppose it is, lol. Quote:

people were smoking weed all up and down 6th street like the shit was legal. I tell you what do, I was wearing a nice button up shirt with jeans and dress shoes and people were staring at me like I committed a crime. Thankfully we stayed in downtown so I went and back to the hotel threw on my gym sweater, old jeans and my gym shoes. I fit right in

Ha, what's so weird about their people? I'm in Portland, Oregon right now, the "sister city" to Austin. There's a bunch of odd folks & hipsters up here too. I really dig progressive-style cities, but I also dig Southern girls so... I'm hoping Austin gets me a good mix of both.

Near I-35 on the East edge of downtown you'll find a lot of dive bars and homeless walking around. As you walk further West the age starts to go up and once you're a few blocks west of Congress you find a lot of late 20-to-30 somethings. The bars on 2nd through 5th are similar to the ones you'll see on 6th West of Congress. As someone else already mentioned... The lake is definitely a good time. A lot of people around here have boats and while most won't go out until it's a bit warmer there were already a few people partying at Devil's Cove a couple weeks ago. It's definitely a decent town and nothing like what I was told about Texas: Last edited by lib; 03-24-2010 at 06:47 PM.. |
