Ah, high school automotive pissing contests.
As others have said, take him to the drag strip and put an end to it. There's nothing I hate more than a V6 Camaro/Mustang driver who thinks his car is hot shit. Even your JB+ will do the trick but for maximum effect buy a JB3. Be sure to take pictures of the timers and put them on the school bulletin boards! Last edited by PINeely; 03-23-2010 at 05:18 PM.. |

V6 Camaro is roughly a second slower 0-60 then the 335i. The 335i should win unless the driver completely sucks at driving.......
SS vs 335i will be the drivers race as both have roughly the same performance times( SS is a bit faster, but only by a tenth or two). |

As long as it is the V6 version, race his ass. Doesn't even have to be at a drag strip, just line up at a red light and do a 0-60 run. With your turbo's and your tune, you should be atleast a sec quicker.

I've seen an Evo with a hta35r trap 110 mph ![]() My brother owns a V6 camaro, and my best friend owns an e92 335i. I've driven both. On the paper, it's 300hp vs 300hp. But in reality, 335i puts down 20-25 more whp to the ground. With both drivers being equal, 335i will win.

I beg to differ. You should beat a V6 Camaro. I've raced a V8 Camaro and kept up but probably wouldnt have won... I shut it down when I got around 90.

"According to Oppenheiser, the new 300-horsepower 3.6-liter V6-equipped Camaro will run from zero to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds regardless of transmission choice. The V6 coupe will cover the quarter-mile in 14.5 seconds with an auto and 14.7 seconds with a manual, both at 97 mph. The brakes don't sound quite as impressive, though, as Oppenheiser said the base Camaro stops from 60 to zero mph in 132 feet.
Not surprisingly, the V8-equipped Camaro SS delivers better numbers across the board. Chevy's Camaro SS outfitted with the 422-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 six-speed manual hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and runs a 13.4-second quarter-mile at 108 mph according to Oppenheiser. Strangely enough, Oppenheiser also claims that the automatic-equipped SS Camaro, which is rated at 400 hp, runs from zero to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds. "We optimized the shift points," he said."

I've seen SS Camaro's under 13 seconds in the 1/4 mile. That is easily faster than a stock 335i. Not sure where you guys are getting that the 335i (without a tune) is a push with a Camaro SS....

I am also in highschool. Getting a 335i in 2 months right now have a 08 528i.
![]() To answer your question a V6-powered base Camaro can sprint to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds. Your 335i can do 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. You clearly won ![]() |

The 335i will take the V6 with no problem. Keep in mind we're talking about a car that's roughly half the price here.
The SS on the other hand, if properly driven, is going to outrun a stock 335i. The magazines are running low 13 second (one got 13 flat) quarter miles with them, and they're trapping 109MPH. The 335i will run mid 13s, and trap around 105. Unless the Camaro driver just completely botches the launch, he's going to beat you from a dig by a couple of car lengths, and from a roll, it's just going to walk away. It's substantially faster once it's moving and especially up in 4th gear. As the speed increases over 100MPH, the 335i is probably going to become a little more evenly matched because of the aerodynamics, but it's probably not going to be enough to matter unless you're racing to 150MPH or something crazy like that. In this case, you're right. But 0-60 doesn't really mean much if you're comparing other cars.

I'm at the strip weekly w/ my z4m and I've run the new ls3 ss, ls3 corvette as well as the 335 w/ meth and 100 oct and tires
![]() Me...2006 z4m..10lb battery, 275/30/19 craptastic dunlops, muffler delete, and bmc filter replacement camaro ss ls3 man. stock(w/ a shit talking driver)wheel spin off the line 9.1 @ 81mph me...8.59 @ 85 2003 auto corvette 9.0 @ 80mph me...8.48 @89mph(50 shot in third for two sec) 2008 335i 8.5 @ 93 mph (he was hitting 7.9's all night @ 93) me 8.8 @ 85 mph(wheel spin) my only 1/4 mile pass w/ 50 shot...misshifted 2nd and nearly hit wall from wheel spin in 2nd and 3rd ![]() 13.1 @ 115mph. I'm hoping to see high 7's in the 1/8th w/ drag radials and low 12's in the 1/4. not to mention tuning my nitrous shot to a 100. The moral is my car is known to be slower than the e90 platform and I have no issues pulling from the camaro. The kenne bell camaro is whole different story ![]() check dragtimes.com and you'll see the v6 camaro is no match

![]() The magazine times all show the Camaro SS to be faster than the 335i. Hell I''ve pulled on a Viper in my 135, but it was because he was blowing the tires off all the way through second gear. A stock 335i isn't seeing anywhere CLOSE to 110MPH trap speeds. |

please stop mag/internet racing. have you ever been to the track?? on any given night my traps can differentiate by 3 mph in the 1/8th due to d/a. When you have the time go ahead and see "real" times posted by "real" people @ dragtimes.com ![]() if you knew what to look for in the info provided you might have not replied. Let me elaborate...traps measure the potential of the vehicle and the times represent the combination of driver and vehicle capabilities. For example I ran a 9.0 but still @ 85 mph. My traps don't fluctuate w/ my times as much as the d/a would effect it. If you were at the track and racing the viper you might have won but his trap would have been much higher than yours.
