I'm gonna guess a statistically insignificant amount of change. How about 5hp more than the baseline.

Sorry this is shiv's thread and he is still testing my car. Plus I am working on a new thread for myself later.

Easy.....it is the same. No change. Did not effect performance at all.

If you feel your car is slower after the reflash, take it back to the dealer and have them wash it, that will even out the effect.

if we are on "Take 4", does that mean that the Xede is ready to be shipped out with a standard tune? I just want one!!!!

Oh - there was no change after the ECU update... duh!

Shiv is a smart business man and if there was a gain, it would not help promote his product. But a loss via the re-flash (that his product could eliminate) would be another selling point and reason to create so much suspense (attention).

Me thinks Shiv is playing games with us... So far, all the guessers have been assuming that he's comparing two stock cars. Unless he reassembled/repurchased the stock exhaust he can't!

"Any guess on how it did compared to the dyno results of my once stock car"

I'd imagine that his car is putting down a whole-helluva lot more than on first run. The last posted dyno showed around 330whp and 345lb-ft, so my cautiously optimistic guess is that the new dynos will show 340-350whp & 355-365lb-ft.

Or I could just be over-thinking it...

I have to agree with TB355. Good analysis.

I think the ECU update probably adds a few more horse power if anything. I mean, what if it just changed the font on the navi? :-D

Yes, you are overthinking. Something I could never be accused of unfortunately

I was comparing two stock cars. My car (when it was stock) and another car (also stock but now with the ECU udpate).

The dyno sheets are sitting the back seat of one of my cars which is currently parked on the other side of town. I will get my hands on it today, scan it, and post it up in this thread.

But pretty good guess so far. And the results? Well, I'll give you guys a hint:

The car with the ECU update didn't make more power. In fact, it consistently made 5-10whp less across the entire rev band. It also appeared to run slightly richer under boost across the entire rev range.

Of course, we are comparing two cars on two separate days (albeit on the same dyno) so that alone could account for the difference. As we collect a larger pool of data, we'll be able to properly quantify the effects of the new update.

The point of this thread was that there doens't seem to be a subjectively *noticeable* loss in power with the new ECU update as some were fearing. By *noticeable*, I mean a sizeable delta-- on that is big enough to feel by the seat of your pants. Yes, it may indeed make less power. But the upside is all that stumbling just after cold start has vanished. I did notice that, at times, the car takes a while to start up. It sometimes fires up right away while other times it can crank for a few seconds before finally firing up. I'll ask the owner if this was a pre-existing condition or a new addition after the ECU update. More later

Cheers,
shiv

Damn, that kind of sucks, 5-10 less WHP=up to about 12 less crank HP over the entire rev band is quite a bit less power looking at it by area under the curve. If this is real it is enough to make folks (me included) pretty pissed since it is not the same power that we test drove, i.e. bait and switch, albeit a minor one. It may just be normal variance b/t 2 different cars on 2 different days. I will wait for more points on the curve but overall this sounds pretty disappointing

I'll wait for all of the data to come in... you never know, it might be faster in real life and more reliable in the end...

Actually it's pretty good.
Originally, the stock version ran too lean as per Shiv's posted AFR. And now this upgraded stock version runs richer and only managed to trim 5-10whp while introduced more AFR safety along with no longer cold start up issue.

I'm sure Xede + exhaust will get it back according to expectations

Only installs for now, consider it the "beta testing" phase.

Actually, we're happy to report that we are closer to being ready to ship than we earlier thought. The Stg 1 335i customer car (exhaust and Xede) put down virtually the same power as my car did with the same Xede map. Despite being different cars with different ECU flashes, they behaved virtually identically when tuned. I'm VERY happy to see that. Next week, I'll be going out of town to tune two stock 335is (just Xede). If they exhibit similar results with the same Xede map, we should be ready to start shipping out kits as early as the following week.

Today's customer results soon to follow
