30FE doesn't mean you "over boosted" e.g. ran way too much boost. It means you had excessive throttle closure. Your boost was over target. Maybe that target was 2psi and you ran 3psi, for example. The freeze frame data is CRITICAL in any analysis...

Did you listen to the police siren video? It will happen even while reving the car while it's parked.

Mike

Isn't this the definition of overboost - it was over a particular target, either set by the DME or "set" by the JB3

When people refer to "over boosting" I get this visual of running 18psi instead of 15psi. Not running 3psi instead of 1.5psi. But either can trigger a 30FE code.

Funny I had the same exact thing happen the other day. I was getting on the highway starting to accelerate and the car went into limp mode. I pulled over, restarted the car and it ran fine. Ran a BT scan and saw the 30FE code.

Running 2.0 2/17 firmware Map 5 with 93 octane and DCI. First issue I've had. Maybe some bad 93 octane in the north Jersey area? I usually fill up with Shell V Power, but when this happened it was on Citgo 93.

Also had a 3100 code, but from what I understand that is always present after a limp mode. No other codes were present.

Here is my freeze frame data: Any thoughts?

30FE:
30FE Exhaust fume turbo charger, high pressure side
Error will not cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed

Freeze Frame Information
Event 1
Odometer 38304kms 23801miles
ambient pressure 997.66 hPa
ambient temperature 7.50 °C
pressure in front of throttle valve 128.00 kPa
speed 3,456.00 rpm

Update to the latest firmware first. Then if it continues contact BMS for advice. 30FE is not related to octane/gas. Just various tuning settings.

Thnaks Mike. From the freeze frame data does it look like I ran a really high boost or anything potentially troubling?

Just a few PSI. False alarm for sure.

If your car sounds anything like that your Turbo's are toast.

I ran map 7 with just a DCI on 93 octane, so you should be ok otherwise, however, since you have DP you should still be safe on map 7, so you could have just got bad gas.

However, if you cleared the codes and did some WOT you should be ok.

The overboost code is interesting however.

Call me if you have any more questions.
