To start go for the DCI/JB3 combo and build up from there if you have the need for more power. The DCI with 93 octane will let you run up to map5.
Go for it.. You won't regret it!! Mike |

But if you live in a warmer climate and want to do some spirited driving, an oil cooler (ar design, see my sig) and a better intercooler will increase the reliability of your engine and avoid power loss through heatsoak. I'm running the JB3 2.0 with map 7 right now and am quite happy with it. Alpina_B3_Lux

Mike hooked me up with the JB3/DCI a few weeks back and it's such a different car! I'm running on map 5 with 93 octane and the car is scary fast. Besides that I'm stock.

The best answer is...........get a meth kit. I notice a lot of guys on the board are from CA where there is no access to 93 octane. The best solution is to buy a basic Meth kit and install it. That will solve your octane problem and give you additional cooling. My car had no oil cooler nor aftermarket FMIC and I still ran great numbers on and off the track. Get a jb 2.0 18ohm board, meth kit, add... downpipes if you can and call it a day even if you have 93 octane. With Meth you can run higher boost maps - more boost = more power. |

If you think Map5 is fast install a meth kit and put it on Map9 and come back and give us a report.

Let me do some pros/cons. FMIC - 700$ and adds weight to the front of your car. Allows you to make 20more hp because of pressure drop/lower intake charges. Meth kit - 300$ no weight added, allows cooling of intake charges, allows high boost maps all the time, can disable by pulling a fuse for daily driving or can leave it on all the time. Meth is 4$ a gallon. You run a 50/50 mix so price drops to 2$ a gallon. I think most people do the normal mods like fmic, jb, intake because everyone else does them. It would be more advantageous to add a tune and Meth kit. It will put you at or over 400rwhp and is cheaper. People say they don't want Meth in their trunk but Porsche owners have them in their 150k car's. Albeit their trunks are in the front part of their car. 1 more question! I am definitely not a mechanic but I have a lot of experience in car audio installation, wiring, etc...... Do you recommend the PnP or the pin out? If I have good directions I know I can install this myself. Which do you recommend? you are making me get all excited and I can stay off the forums @ work. If I lose my job, one of you better give me a job installing tunes........ |

The pin-out is simple enough if you follow directions, but its easy to make a mistake and is a pain if you are going to be pulling it for warranty. Out of warranty when the JB3 will stay in for ever its a great option, but in warranty I always recommend the PnP, and 95% of my customers opt for the PnP version. Mike |

Map 5 is incredible, so I can't imagine 9! I don't race so Meth kit really isn't needed for me. In the next month or so I get to "test drive" my gf's cousin's new Viper. Not a huge fan of them but I want to see what that SOB can do....

Installations
Installations are really easy. Just look at the videos and the pdf available on the burgertuning.com support section. I just did my JB3/DCI installation on Friday and my god it is incredible. One thing that I changed in the installation for the DCI is that instead of putting the little pipe to the rear cone (one closest to the cabin), I put that in first into the stock intake hose. Then I attached the cone to the pipe and it was easy an install without taking off the cowel.
I am now running map5 and my oil is still two notches under 250 under my hard driving. Some punks in the STI pulled beside me today and wanted to at the red light so I ended up flooring it and passed them really quickly. I felt bad though because they had 3 people in the car and also while passing them, there was a patch of gravel that got picked up by my rear wheels towards them.

I have the same and I run map 5. In my first race at the track, I did a 12.99 and 108.. All I have is a dual cone intake.. You'll be fine. If you want to move up to the next map, you should have a front mount intercooler and downpipes..

Key word here is If... The OP wants to run jb3 2.0 and if he runs 2.0 he will be running more than the stock boost. I'll say it again... The stock intercooler is garbage. |
