Exactly.. I thought it was just an exhaust. Now you mentioned aftermarket exhaust and DP of which one (or both for all we know) are catless. Whether they're at fault or not (not), you are just asking for a warranty denial.

Crossing fingers, knocking on wood, holding my rabbits foot, and hoping the lucky horseshoe stays implanted. PS: I'm enjoying the heck out of the car, way more than if it were stock. |

I'd still just buy a new one... and put my mods on it.... other than having to pay the taxes again... there's not really any negatives to this. I mean buy a equivalent used one... all of em depreciate about the same...

Say that you want a lawyer. I asked my dealership and they said that they have to prove that it was caused by the aftermarket part. They said that I'd lose my warranty for the 'exhaust' if I change it, but I'd still have my engine warranty. As long as the cause of the problem was not the exhaust, they should cover it. Sue them!!

It may seem really stupid, or childish, but the best way to find out how your service dept. handles modded cars, is to ask a open-ended question to service manager, if you can find him/her. this usually will indicate how the advisor will handle the situation. "hey Chuck, (or whoever) -- Um, what do you think of those XX intakes, do they really give you a performance increase??" what follows is what to expect if you mod you car.. i'd suggest that every car owner ask these questions -- just to get a feel for shop policies... |

Problem is, their policies go out the window once a puma case is opened. Any alterations to the car are submitted to BMWNA, and they decide if warranty is honored or not. My car has been modded for years, and no one has said anything..bad coils, hpfp, water pump, all fixed with no issue.
