I think even with a HPFP failure the car will run with almost no boost on the LPFP in limp mode so you don't have to worry about being stranded. I had my pump replaced 7,000 miles ago and I have had 2 long cranks in the last two days and I think its going to go again. Has anybody had a fail in less than 7,000 let me know.

Also to address the fuel issue I run 91 premium at least and 100 octane every couple of months for fun.

I don't think we can buy 91 octane in NSW anymore, except for some brands Ethanol blend. Mostly 91 octane fuel is sold in WA, and NT, maybe TAS. Someone correct me if this is wrong. In NSW it is normally E10, Regular unleaded 95, and High octane 98 fuel.
Too low octane causes pre-iginition, but I have no idea how that affects direct injection system. I thought BMW were claiming there was an issue with direct injection that is related to the impurities in the fuel. Generally the high octane fuels also have lower levels of impurities. |

For what it's worth, my pump's OK after 14000km and have not heard the problem occurring among a number of friends and colleagues who drive the 335i.
Chill and enjoy my friend. If it happens, it happens. German premium cars are glorious to drive but can have issues like any other make. |

Going to dealership with mods
Was thinking of either the JB3 or procede but really worried about visiting the dealership too. I heard in particular with procede even if the codes are cleared, BMW still have their "ways" to find out if the car's been tuned when I get the car in for service/repairs. JB3 could be safer I heard as it leaves no traces after clearing with BT cable. Anyone think otherwise?
Should I wait till after the warranty expires for tunes? |

I am biased, but IMO the procede sh*ts on the JB3 in every department. The main one being that since the JB3 doesn't have canbus integration, it relies on the factory DME to control knock and timing. The procede now also has "auto-tuning" which is a very big deal. ![]() Plus it has the ability to read and clear codes without purchasing a BT tool. |
