Michelin PS2 ZP in 225/45-17

Michelin recently came out with 245/45-17 PS2s in ZP. I have Continental SSRs on a 330i now, but will replace them with the Michelins. It originally came with the Bridgestone Turanzas, but started cupping an making noise so were replaced at 16,000 with a discount from the dealer. The Continentals seem to ride better but look like they need replacement now with a little over 25,000 miles of use. I have non-RFT Michelin PS2s on the rear of my 911tt and they have lasted over 20,000 miles on a car that is often hard on rear tires.

If it were my car, I would move to non-RFT, but this is my wife's car. I have a 335d with RFT and a space saver spare. I will move to non-RFT for replacement. In this size now for RFT, there are two offerings from Continental, Kumho Ecsta, Yokohama ADVAN ZPS, and Michelin Primacy HP ZP along with Bridgestones, Goodyear and Dunlop.

Boot space is important

Many thanks for the feedback.

There is no room in the boot of my 318i for a spare wheel on account that I actually want to use the boot from time to time. So, a spare wheel is not an option for me.

If I were to switch to non-RFT then I guess it's a can of goo? And what difference will non-RFT make to the handling? I don't want my car to turn into a wallowing barge in the corners.

My BMW Service Manager (well experienced fellow) also recommended Continental Contipro SSR. I will have to read more about it before I make a decision next spring.

Meanwhile I shall enjoy my new Winter/Wheel/Tire set ... Click for Photos

I absolutely hate RFT's. I have tried many and just can not stand the side wall in them. Once you switch to non-rft's you will wish you had done so earlier. Ride is so much more plush and potholes seem to be taken with much less damaging affects.
I understand the comfort of knowing if you get a flat you will be ok, but for me, I would rather wait for a tow truck once in the life of my car than cruise around in an uncomfortable ride 365 days a year. Just my opinion as you asked for.
+1 I so agree
