Thing that worries me is that everything you do with the car is loged on the bmw ecu. All bmw techs have to do is plug in the diagnostics testing cords, and it shows how fast you went, how many times you red lined your car, how much psi you were running, and what time you did it at.
So unless you have the software to clear these or know someone its pretty sketchy deal warrenty wise.

335e90, are you 100% sure that is the case?
So BMW can not find out about this mod at all? If that's the case I'm placing my order today so that I can install it as soon as I get the car in Feb

I am 100% sure this is the case and tried to check and found on the xede FAQ:
Q:If the dealership doesn't detect XEDE will the ECU somehow detect it? A: No. The Xede is completely invisible to the ECU and dealership. But it certainly wouldn't hurt to ask about this whenever you call or email him to order it. |

If its reading the boost at 7-8 psi when its really 11-12 psi that would be great. But if its reading it at 11-12 psi then you have a problem because say your car breaks at that time. Then the bmw techs can find out that your car was running at a higher boost when it broke. That means that if you were running your car at 5k+ rpms with 11-12 psi, at say 6th gear doing 130 mph. Bmw can put 2 and 2 together and say that you were tampering with the car. Nothing is ever 100% invisible, esp at this point and time with car technology. Bmw even found out when my friend took off his whole exhaust system and ran it for a bit because of the higher flow of exhaust. Thats when he even put it back on before taking it to the dealership.

I think I could live with that Walked U
My main concern was when I go to the BMW dealership for a regular checkout & oilchange. If they could pull the info right out of the computer logs and say AHAAA you had this and this on at this and this time and you did this and that with it. As long as I can take the thing out before I go to the dealership I'm all good with that.

Ya but its not going to be too funny when bmw doesnt replace your broken engine parts when you voided your warrenty. But all in all xede is a great thing. Im not trying to put it down. Just trying to get all the info out so others will have some info before buying it.

Its rare that a dealership will even care what the cause of the problem is. What they see is what they replace. Its not like they will do much investigating.....

Here we go again.
Tell me something, anyone, how would BMW prove that an ordinary guy turned up the boost on his 335? If they cant prove it, then how are they not going to replace anything that is covered under warranty? I know that no one besides IMSAMBEEN has been driving with it in for a while, but NOT ONE PERSON has anything negative to say about the car after the XEDE.

The Xede data are power at the drive wheels. I don't think there are any cars short of the Z06 with 330 whp and 375 ft/lbs on a dyno. At the crank it's likely around 370 bhp & 425 ft/lbs, and that over an extraordinarily wide rpm range, in contrast to the usual 'peaky' output of most tuned small displacement engines. This is almost into M5 territory, in terms of power/weight ratio.
