pressing the button turns Dynamic Traction Control ON. This allows a greater degree of wheelspin and prevents the standard-setting traction control cutting in too soon.

With normal driving do you notice the orange DSC light flashing up alot?

Just do some basic testing mate.

If you suspect a problem, why don't you get it on a rolling road and see what sort of power it's pushing out. You can then see if there's any power loss. What about getting it plugged in at the dealers to see if there's any fault codes?

There's one thing you have to remember: the 335d is a very deceiving car and is probably moving much quicker than what you think it is. How about doing some basic 0-60 tests?

That's what we're discussing and trying to get to the bottom of, if performance is down, it can sometimes make the car feel - just wrong.

Good idea. BMW claim 5.9 secs, sadly they don't give a 50 to 75 mph time

Most have commented on the engine performance, what about the handling?

What's the real issue in lack of communication? It is possibly the horrid 19" run-flat tyres and roads you use, making a mess of a 'hidden' but good chassis.

What makes you say that Carlos? Sounds to me like the chap has bought a car that he was expecting a lot from and it's underwhelmed him somewhat.

He's not come on to say the car is rubbish or anything. He's just expressing that something doesn't feel right/not what he expected from the car and is looking for insight from us lot as to what it might be.

@Bradstar,

What exactly are you feeling is lacking? Do you think the car is slow to pick up from a standing start? If so try being a little heavier footed or alternatively try switching the gear select to "DS" and giving the a loud peddle a hefty boot. Be careful though, especially as you may have DTC on, either way (DS or D) it should be pretty nifty off the line.

Also once you're rolling if you give the throttle a decent nudge the box should drop a gear fairly sharpish (especially if you push past the kick-down pressure point) and take off like a scolded cat.

With regards to handling, what are you experiencing? If you could give us a little more information as to what kind of "feel" (or lack thereof) you're getting from the car that might help us to narrow down what is going on.

The 335d is no slouch and it should handle beautifully (obviously if you're comparing to a Boxster or a 911 then it might leave you feeling a little cold!).

How can the car not feel fast compared to a TT and a 320d, unless your wanting to stir some sort of reaction.

The car is a great performer. Especially when compared to your two previous cars you have mentioned.

The autobox adapts to your driving style. See if you can't get it reset by the dealer, then try it.

stir.... i was asking a question and trying to put some data behind it.
i said the 320 was sort of quick, ie good for a diesel. and the TT was quick compared to the other company cars i have had.

i am not slagging the car, it looks great, and i am sure most drive great, the question was about my car, and so see if any else has had this problem.

anyone would think i am slagging your mum off.

Just the way you posted initially. Seemed a little ''spammy''

The TT is not in the same league as the 335d, strange yours seems so slow. Maybe the turbo's are on there way out.

Red hose issue?

Changing one wheel wont drastically alter the handling. Unless it was COMPLETELY Egg shaped.

The 3 series is renowned for its handling, precision and feedback. You sure your still not in the Howdi?

I think the drop in gear takes a couple of seconds, maybe 1.5-2? As stated the gearbox adapts but if you give it a couple of movements (i.e. start pressing on and demanding more of the car) it should switch modes fairly quickly. I don't believe you need a dealer reset for this.

I would also start by checking tyre pressures all round. I run mine at 3.2Bar on the rear and 2.7Bar on the front. These are sort of in he middle of the two settings shown on the door sticker (for low loading and fully loaded).

What is your feedback through the steering wheel like? My steering is rather heavy but I feel it allows me to be more precise. The feedback is good though and I can feel what the car is doing quite well (not that I ever really push to the limits of adhesion).

Now what does the ride feel like? Is it firm but ok or firm and crashy/skittish?

Is it on runlfats, if so... The car does handle well but only on perfect roads.

Tocksik, 3.2 bar is a little high mate!

I have had a 320d in the past, and that was felt quick ishh.

Any ideas?
If you got used to a small(ish) fast car like the TT you mentioned, take a test drive in a 135i, it may may you think again....

The rear tyre was almost flat, due to the broken alloy. which must have not helped. the ride was bumpy before the wheel change. the ride is now firm like it should be.

One question.... would Active Steering play a part. the main handling issue was the feed back from the car from the steering wheel.
