Something I wrote over at Bimmerfest:

About time Jon finally turned this event into a potential money maker. For years, it was a charity event.

And I agree. Pasadena PD should be employed for traffic flow. Total mess getting in.

I talked to Jon yesterday for a few minutes. I mentioned the negative part of this event: no longer intimate.

During the early events (2000-2003), I probably knew half of the people who attended. For those I did not know, I could go and introduce myself. Can't do that any longer.

Also this observation: as the event grows, the clientele will not be anything like the group that was attending Cutter Motors. We'll see more and more of a riff-raff element and we'll see BMW vehicles that look like that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Mobile that was on 22s yesterday. When that happens, some vendors will come to the conclusion that this is not the demographic they're interested in catering to.

With growth of the event comes more money-making opportunities. But you'll also be taking a risk that the event draws people to the event who don't mesh well with those of us who populate these message boards.

The event looked like a success to me yesterday. I expect that it will become a well-oiled machine during the next two events.

yep, total lack of respect from the few jerks that attend these events.

last time my car was a bimmerfest, in 2008, somebody to decided to spit on my window.

i miss the days when bimmerfest was smaller and held at the cutter bmw dealership.

that said, i wasn't able to make it this year, but didn't look too bad from the pics posted.

Rob, you're right. The good old days will be missed by many of the old timers.

As a side note, I just got done washing the car off completely. There was a lot of that shake-like substance on my car. Only a blind person wouldn't recognize how much of that crap landed on my car. Lots of sugar in it, so it was really caking on this morning. Glad I got rid of it now.

Couldn't even imagine this happening back in the day. But, as I mentioned earlier, we're starting to see a whole different type of person attending this show now.

I set up a Picasa album with the pics I took, about 200 of them. I'm no pro photographer but I got some good ones with my point and shoot. Enjoy
