X6 looks pretty nice IMO. 5 series GT? Oh hell no.

Not surprising, I've seen only one 5 GT on the road around here.

I would like to pint out that this statement relates to the US Market only.
In Other markets for a low volume car the 5er Gran Turismo has comfortably exceeded it's targets. However what has failed to materialize within this report is that in the US , BMW have sold bar a few units two years sales combined of the 5er Touring with the E61's replacement the 5er Gran Turismo. X6 has exceeded double initial expectations with over 80,000 units delivered to customers worldwide. |

So where you see a company smoking pot because they (decide/got to meet the ever tightening emissions laws placed on them) switch to Forced Induction, I see a company that's meeting things head on and are at the fore front of future technologies and will do rather well out of all this. |

The exterior of the GT is hideous, but my wife wants one badly. I told her if they come out with a diesel version, we'll talk about it. Not having a 550GT diesel makes no sense at all. I guess i'm in the minority, but I love the X6. It's a beautiful machine.

7's I'm seeing quite a few of now... X6's less so, and 5GT's even less again, but I am seeing them about.
These arn't high volume cars though, and we should not expect to see them on every street! Also, and I mean no offence by this.. but Americans don't seem broad minded enough for niche vehicles - I guess its the reason why they don't get the tourer, all the diesels, or the 'normal' versions of the 1 series. |

Doesn't make much sense to worry about fuel consumption and emissions in low production cars, and yet not seem to have a care in the world about their high volume production cars. Has me completely ![]() Cheers, e46e92

Where I work if we have 1 X6 in stock thats a lot. We have no problems selling x6's and in fact we would take more if we could get them. The car is way more of a hit than I ever thought it would be. Your not going to sell a lot of units but what the offered is usually sold before it gets here so they are doing something right. The probalme with the GT is that there is no AWD option yet. I told them when I was at traning the V8 with RWD is going to be a big mistake and that they should have waited and lauched the car with 35 and 50 with both RWD and AWD available. Look like I was right again. THey pay fcus groups instead of asking Client Advisors like myself what to do. I wil do it FOR FREE. I have been here 6 years and can usually get an idea and can tell when they make a mistake like with the GT. I thought the X6 would also never sell and I was wrong about that but other than that I dont think I have ever been to far off and usually get it right on the money.

DO you know why BMW does not bring ecver diesel engine here or are you just saying they can do it and just ay no? The truth is that is cost MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars to get any diesel engine certified for US sales. If they bring a 4 cyl diesel they would ahve to sell a TON to recoup the costs involved. They fel that a 4 cyl diesel would not sell well enough to recoup the cost and make profit and I happen to agree. Other than people on this board or my euopean clientel I RARELY get any interest on a smaller diesel engine BMW. Plus 99% of people on this board that say the would buy on right away if it came here are LIARS. They will come up with some excuse to not buy it. The dealership isnt giving a big enough discount, its overpriced, no finance or lease deal etc. It happens all the time here and in the real world as well. This is something I deal with EVERY DAY. I had a TON of people asking about new M3 and M5, and may other cars as well, and telling me that they are getting it when it comes out for sure and maybe 1 out of 25 ever even buy the car. Its the same thing with the 4 cyl diesel 3 series you mention.

X6 vs. 550Gt
The X6 are doing well overall. The used car market on the X6's is very strong - 08 & 09 X6's 35i's are bringing almost the same money at auctions because they are all getting shipped oversees and being marked up.
I hated the 550GT the first, second and third time I saw it. But working in the car business and seeing it alot....its starting to grow on me a bit....but it truly looks like a squashed X6...like Jack came down the beanstalk and stepped on an X6 and then came the creation of the GT. But most launch car GT's are still sitting on lots with near $90K price tags. Im waiting to see how BMW plans to market the 2010 GT's when 2011's are soon to come.

You do realize that there are many, many people would would much prefer a FI engine in the next M3? More power, more torque, better gas mileage, superior tunability.
