I think a better engine swap would be the new twin turbo V8 found in the X5/6 M, turn up the boost and make more hp and torque, and I imagine it weighs less..

It's an interesting idea, but I don't really understand the advantages of putting a heavier engine into the car...it will just bugger up the handling in addition to being REALLY expensive.

Why not figure out the fueling issues and go with a big top mount single like a gt40? Based upon Enrita's teardown analysis, it looks like this engine can easily handle 600+WHP, which is more than the M5.
