Methinks getting an LSD from BMW will be more expensive than getting an LSD (whole rearend) from an aftermarket company like Quaife (at least for us in the States)

He indicated that 360hp would be the most they'd put in the car, because more than that, and it would be faster than an M3 in a straight line, which they can't do. 360 would make is quicker than the M3 vert though, assuming they don't manage to drop or add any weight to the 1er, so they may go with enough for it to just barely slower than the vert? It'll be faster on a track no matter what they do, given it has the same brakes, same tire size, and similar (if not identical) suspension configuration with a good 500lbs less weight, but BMW doesn't advertise track times, so they can still market it as a "baby" M car if it has a slower 0-60 time.

I think the 1M will use the N54 engine from the Z4 35is with 340hp. But I read about the 1M engine being an N55 with twin-turbo instead of the twin-scroll single turbo , which I find very unlikely but if they do this, I expect the same setup in the next M3 too.
As for the 1M being a chipped 135i, it will not be but not because of the engine. The suspension will probably be specially tuned to match the M badge.

The ratio will be too far off and not in your favor...2.5x vs 3.08/3.46(depends on your 335i trans type). Your 335i will accelerate much slower, but your gas mileage might improve. |
