Post #19 - sounds like a bit of an M3 dissection. No denying that Palmnuts C63 is an awesome car....but at what cost compared to a stock M3, I'd like to see the profit & loss sheet ;-)

It's still quite harsh over here...but still at least 50% better than it was before Uli made his adjustments.
Seriously, the difference between the continent and the UK is unbelievable and there is not a hope in hell it's going any harder regardless of what I said yesterday! The body control is in fact not any noticeablly softer when going round roundabouts or even high speed bends - its resolutely flat so I have no ideas why I thought I needed it to be harder! I still needs adjustment to reduce vibrations caused in particular by rough or broken surfaces - where the wheel is having to respond very quickly (high speed damping by any chance?). Considering the back end has hardly been adjusted then I guess a lot can be gained there when he sorts the rear dampers out but I still reckon there is more 'give' needed in the front too. Tony - I just want to say thank you for sorting this for me...I still can't get over who the guy is that is setting my car up (for everyone else who doesn;t know...he is the person who tests/develops AMG's for Mercedes and he did 100,000+ development miles in the C63 before it was launched. You couldn't get anybody more qualified to work on the car!) Also, can you please let me know about the brake pads as soon as you know as my front pads are grinding like hell - I'd like to get them replaced this weekend as it's the only chance I've got before going out the ring again in a coiuple of weeks! Cheers Andrew |

I can confirm that it's a great car. Utterly addictive sound, cool looks (interior in particular) and waaayy fast.
Was a real pleasure meeting you two guys on the 'Ring and hope to see you again in August! Alpina_B3_Lux

Well, after a bit more driving it around today I can say that I am more and more convinced that Uli got the front end spot on...it rides firmly yes, but the overall drive is sublime! The back end is noticeably stiffer which will be sorted in a couple of weeks.
And the handling is just not comparable with what went before....it's amazing what a set of very good (and expensive) coilovers can do! The US AMG guy's swear that this is the best mod for the car and they're not wrong! I'm going to have a play about at the weekend with some different settings just to see what variance is available with this suspension (out of curiosity more than anything) but I think ultimately the front end will be sticking exactly as-is! Now, what about that BRABUS upgrade?? Well, my butt-dyno definitely tells me it's quick - where before it just felt fast across the whole rev range from about 2000rpm upwards, it can now add really strong 'thrust you back into the seat' top-end pull. It's very reminiscent of how the M6 would pull at the top end but with the added bonus of strong torque lower down. I'm having it dyno'd again next weekend so we'll see if it's a real increase or just all in my mind! |

But still a nice clip as it shows the difference in acceleration between a 335i and C63 AMG. Posted a first clip of a lap of my dad yesterday on youtube. You are in there as well somewhere. An 08:30 in his Z3 coupe 3.0 with traffic and he waited in the beginning for the E36 to pass. Not bad |

Andrew - congrats on the new found power and handling.
I'm glad you had a good experience at CPR - they are an evolve dealer also so all our tuning is available from them to cater for the more northerly part of England. Looking forward to seeing the dyno results of the Brabus upgrade. |
