Panoz, don't worry about it. I know this is not the scientific explanation you and everyone wants to hear, but just think about it for a moment and use your common sense. Why would car manufacturers produce vehicles that would be so fragile that you had to follow a million different set of guidelines in how to break in a car.

Harmon is a great place to dyno, good guys as well, been there several times with my old A4 and dyno days. The numbers always seem to be spot on. Some people in the audi community used to say it was an inflated dyno, lol, I don't think so, these numbers seem to prove it, nice job Dan and good luck with the 335I!!

15% is standard in my opinion for a manual nowadays. I've heard of people going as far as 25% for manuals which is ludicrous and even 20% is a bit far fetched imo. Also, just for those who aren't multiplying out the numbers themselves, it's actually 317.216hp to be exact if you add 15% to his dyno'd hp

I did the calculation differant. I estimated with 325bhp, then took 15% off 325bhp, which comes out to 272whp, which is less then he dynoed. You dont take the dynoed number then add 15% of it, because the 15% is lost from the bhp, not the whp.

IMO, Manuals me are usually around 15-20% loss. A lot of people say 18% cuz its in between. For AWD, i estimate around 25% loss.

Dan, thanks for chiming in on your numbers.

I'll probably be swinging by the shop sometime in the near future for runs too.
I had my Legacy GT dynoed there, both stock and with the Accessport installed.

It's "weird" how the sport compact tuners (Shiv and now Dan) are now buying luxury sport coupes/sedans. Getting older huh guys?

Dan you still got your EVO MR??
Last time we talked we were at LACR and you were trying to break into the 10's (I think) up there with it.

If you want to figure 15% loss then its 324.52bhp

275.84 / .85 =

So, assuming a 15% drivetrain loss, then according to my dyno, my Xede-equipped 335i is at 322WHP and 378 lb.-ft. RWTQ = 379 BHP and 445 lb.-ft. TQ! That's pretty nuts, isn't it? And, some ppl stll doubt that this car can do the 1/4 mi. in 12.4 sec????

Has anyone posted their calculations on what the expected STOCK crank HP is for the 335i? I have searched and cannot find the answer.

Ok... I found a AT with dyno of 271HP... a MT with 280 HP... I've seen that people report a 15% drivetrain loss with AT and 13% loss with MT. Then I saw someone else say AT loss was 20-25% and MT 15-20%. Whatever...

So......

AT 271 -----> 319HP with 15% drivetrain loss

MT 280 -----> 322HP with 13% drivetrain loss

So it looks like the STOCK 335i has about 320HP at the crank. Any thoughts?
