cheers for all the feedback...
i guess i just fell in love with the engine and i fancy the change to diesel. in the back of my head i know that fuel economy may not be much different but it's how i'm kinda justifying it to myself and my folk! haven't seen this deep sea blue one yet so need to inspect further and get another drive with this engine. by the way, do you think the 6 series is an older person's car? i'm nearly 30 and 2 people that i've mentioned it to have said: 'isn't the 6 series an older person's car?' i never thought of it like that but not they've got me thinking! |

A good observation. How often do we get fixated on just one cost of running a car, and use this is a reason (when really it is merely an excuse) to make a change? This week I renewed the tax disc on my pre-ED 330i and it cost me £245. Mentioned this to the wife and said that if I had the diesel version, the tax would only be £155 or £180 (330d and 335d). She said, "oh well dear, perhaps you should change to one of those". Job done. |

no more 'old man' than any other large grand tourer car i suppose. if its what you like then its what you like, no need to worry too much about what other think tbh

Guess it comes down to two things: is it the engine you have fallen for or the car/body style? If the former, get an E92. If the latter, well you will have to cough up and look big!

For a 30 year old I think a 335d would prob be more suitable, but you'd still love the six so go got it if you fancy it.
A mate of mine recently test drove a couple of 6 series' but ended up with a 3 coupe. He's 34.

If I was selecting a pure motorway cruiser and money was no issue, I'd probibly be looking at the 635d, as it looks like it is designed for more comfort in comparison to the more sporty 335d coupe. Taking cost and depreciation into consideration I would go for 335d as you get the same engine and (I assume) the same range of extras to pick from.

6 series should have petrol engines only.

They may well do. 1series, 3 series and 5 should have diesel
examples. 6 er no.

Only cuz of cheapos who want the luxury look but can't hack the fuel
bills. I get sad when I see a diesel 6 series. Wonder when bentley will bring out a trendy denzil Conti

Torques is the appeal and why do your opinionated views not apply to the 335?

Cuz a 3er is a sporty number. Even can
be classed ad a rep mobile. So a denzil suits. 6er is a large luxury coupe. Which in my mind is spoilt by the diesel. Sounds shit to 635d sounds middle of the road which it is. 335 is a top end 3er etc.

What a load of poppycock! It's a grand tourer so a huge torquey engine suits it to a tee! I just don't like the ride in the 6, but that is probably down to the shitty Tyres!

I doubt you will do any better on fuel with the 635d. I've got a 535d and on the motorway at 80 I get 30MPG everwhere else I'm struggling to hit 25. The 5 and 6 are big heavy cars and getting them to move off the line takes alot of throttle.
Go for a 118d or something. Neil.
