Angel Eyes - Lux 5.1 or MTEC

do the lux have a glare and a reflection or sort? is the lux compariable to the new standard OEM angel eyes on the 2011 coupes?

I'm loving my LUX 5.1! It's been about 9 months now and still keeps me smiling everytime I see my angel eyes from a reflection! I bought them for $200 in April 2010. I always have them on as DRLs with my fogs and no issues so far. I've never seen MTEC in person or seen a comparison between 5.1 but there are 50 bones less and looks nice as well!

im also running Lux on my LCI.. I LOVE em... nothing but stares and questions when I ride around at night. My HID`s in the fogs and the LUX match perfectly .. which means I dont drive with my headlights at night

Will the mtech give the AEs a better viewing angle? Because right now I can only see my rings head on. At any angle I can't even see my AEs.

That's great as long as you're driving on well lit roads. Fogs are not designed to throw light very far down the road, and the AEs surely aren't lighting up the road ahead. Neither of those perform the function of headlights at night.. I've always been curious, do you just think it looks cool to not have your headlights on?

OP has a pre lci e90 there's no HID kit for the pre lci E90

I used to have LUX 5.0 and I definitely enjoyed the look. However, one of them went out so this time I went with MTEC v3's mainly for cost. MTEC's were $119 (from sonic tuning) where as the LUX 5.1 are $219 (NaMotorSports). Also I wasn't really happy with the construction of the LUX units. Too many wires dangling around and when fitting the units in the AE holder I had to make sure they didn't get pinched or crimped. Where are as the MTEC's look more proffesionally put together. I will be installing my MTEC's this weekend. If I have time I'll try to get a comparison of the LUX vs MTEC with one in each headlight AE. Here are some comparison pics so you can see what I referring to.

I could have repaired your LUX 5.0 for free for you as well if you wanted, you didnt need to purchase a new one .. too late

Dont forget the pictures you have there are the LUX 5.0, the LUX e90 5.1 are a bit more compact looking with less wires.

^^ Definitely not bashing your product. I definitely enjoyed them while they were working. I purchased the LUX 5.0 units second hand from a member on the forum so I didn't think you would honor the warranty (probably wouldn't have hurt to ask). I would have definitely sent the unit back to you.

I know your not bashing

I'm always willing to fix a version of LUX for someone even if it is a 2nd or 3rd hand product.

I just picked up an e90 328i will be buying one of these two... It would be awesome to see pics with one in each headlight. Much appreciated!
