Too open ended, the biggest question mark is time spent awaiting transport in bremerhaven and time spent clearing VPC/VDC (oxnard)...I think the most quoted response would be 8-12 weeks for west coast and 6-8 weeks for east coast entry.

It all depends on if it catches a ship or has to wait for one, and how quickly after it gets a production number it gets built. It could get a production number and still essentially sit for 2 months. From the day it goes into production to the day it lands is about 5 weeks, maybe 6. On a normal car, there are open slots so you snag them right about a week before they go into production, so it takes 7-8 weeks. Even if you get a production number on the 335i coupe, it might sit for a month, so you never really know. But once you get a production number, BMW also provides with ETA of the build date, so you can start estimating.

I was wondering the same thing, there is a thread with a timeline survey. It looks like it takes about 5-6 weeks from the time production starts to delivery. I believe you should get your production number about a week or so before production begins.

That normally is the case, but with the 335i coupe's you can get your production number up to 2 months before production in the most extreme cases.

When I picked my e92 335i up this weekend, one of the dealers told me I could get $5k extra for it on eBay. Obviously that's quite a stretch, but it's nice to know that these are in limited supply.

That helps the current owners, and may also help resale down the road!

I'd like to think that but resale will probably not be much different that any other BMW. In fact being early production resale is generally lower once the market has plenty of cars. I remember back when the Miata came out, there were clowns thinking they had the most rare car on the planet. The E46M3 was the same way they now they trade for about what they are worth.

Depreciation is a relatively fixed percentage provided other market factors don’t come into play.. In this case there are not enough cars to go around but that is a temporary situation, BMW wants this car on the road as fast as possible…. Something over 40% of BMW sales are 3ser so I am sure BMW is anxious to get caught up. And I bet dealers are adding pressure as well, they are selling cars they don’t have, that’s gotta be aggravating thinking about how many they could sell if they had plenty

With 328 coups seemingly abundant and 335 coupes virtually impossible to find (in my area anyway) I am sure this little production hiccup is being addressed very quickly. The other problem that shortages cause is buyers going to a competitors showroom and then rolling out the door in a competitors product.

Does anyone know is all the 3’s are build on the same production line?

Like in an earlier post, I would also highly recommend Steve Thomas in Camarillo. They will be honest about the wait. Just ordered a e93 for my mother. Ask for George or Tony. (I actually ordered/purchased/credit checked from my car on the way home from work) I grew up there and never imagined that I would be going back to buy a BMW from them, but I guess hard work does pay off, eventually.

In Australia our allocations have been halved. I ordered my 335i coupe in Dec and won't see it until late April.

Well I think I beat all of you guys on the waiting game. I ordered a 328i back in the beginning of September. Not a 335i, a 328i (coupe). I still don't have it, and It is finally arriving here on the 25th of January if all goes well. Yeah, thats a 5 month wait for me, and it has been the longest 5 months is my life.

I agree and I'd be interested to know for sure. My guess is if they are on the same line changing over to produce more 335 Coupes will be less of a problem (Provided they have the engines).

Total speculation on my part but I don’t have much else to do but think about the car I ordered and hang out here .

They are on the exact same production line - that is why they have to juggle production between the two models. If the 335i Coupe was on its own line, it would be pretty easy to just crank out more cars

thats the bottleneck, im pretty sure they are building them as fast as they can get the engines right now

They're on the same production line, YES; but I was told by my SA that BMW has decided to limit the 1st run of the 335i based on the number of motors produced (obvious supply requirement). So I guess a first run e92 coupe will be a bit of an exclusive group. I doubt they'll tweak anything until year 3, so everyone should get pretty much the same car. Anyway, my wait will be 86 days fromorder to delivery, and that was beginning in October. I thought three months was a long wait then, but am guessing I got lucky compared to a 5 month wait now...but some things are worth the wait.

I ordered my 328i on Friday, Dec 15th. My order sheet indicated that production would begin on January 5th. Well according to the OC web site I am still waiting for a VIN and for production to begin. When I call the 1-800 number, I am being told that "your production date is scheduled, with no production date." My dealer doesn't have any additional information. I thought I would have the car 6 weeks after ordering or around the 26th of January. Well that's not going to happen unless both the OC web site and the 1-800 number are incorrect. Now it looks l won't get it until mid February. If I'm lucky!! Has anyone out there ordered a car and not have the information posted on OC? OR have had the 1-800 number not have a clue the status of your order?? :mad:

Same story here--ordered December 7, given a production number the following week, and still listed as scheduled with no production date. When I ordered the car, I was told late February or early March for delivery, but I'm not holding my breath.

well there is a space grey/black dakota/alum steptronic/sport/19 inch/premium sitting in the showroom at Budds BMW in Oakville

I ordered Jan 3rd for a Feb production, car is promised to me end of march early april, my dealer is now selling March production!
