I do love the sound of a sweet engine making high RPMs though but I totally agree. I need to shift at around 6200 RPM for best results. Maybe those lucky few with upgraded turbos could benefit.

It could be that setting it to 8,000 RPM is just a way to effectively disable the shift light without relying on another field in the software.

Of course I'm just speculating but we will know shortly though.

Now that the A/T cars have full boost until redline, what are the ideal shift points? They must have changed from when there used to be boost taper..

Had mines at 6000 and moved it to 6200 RPM as well. This is really cool.
Shiv, is there a way for them not to light up when driving in D mode for Automatics? There is no point in them lighting up when leaving the transmission do the shifting automatically.

Is there a spot where it's technically best to shift? There must be some science to it, no?

I looked up a few dyno graphs to see where max HP was, thinking that might be the spot you should aim for, but that was a lot lower...

I agree........no point in having shift lights show up in "D" or "DS" mode.

Yes, you want to shift just at the point when the effective torque to the wheels is greater in the next gear even considering the gearing change.

On a 6MT, it is best to hold 1st and 2nd to redline. However, the gearing difference between 3rd and 4th is minimal and as such, there is more effective torque when shifting around 6200 RPM. This is based on previous dyno plots. Considering the more recent maps hold more power to redline, this may no longer be the case. But I cannot say for sure until I see new torque curves.

So to activate/adjust the 2 stage shift light, it goes like this? (using pull instead of push)

-Pull cruise control stalk towards me 2 times
-Click the stalk up(or down) 4 times, to get to the shift light option
-And pull stalk towards me once to adjust the rpm? (this is the part I'm confused on...)
-After adjusting the rpm, do I just get out of the command center? Or?

This is what I came up with according to the command center reference thread......

TIA

Pulling the stalk back 2 clicks enters the control center
Pulling/pushing it 1 click toggles through the various modes
Bumping it up or down toggles through the conmands in the active mode
Pressing the button on the stalk sends the command
Steering wheel volume button is used for commands that require adjustment (adj shiftlight rpm)

Pretty intuitive

Make sure your radio is off or muted. The vol button will raise or lower the radio when on.

Vishnu, will there be a way when this mode is activated for the vol buttons to take president over the radio functions?

Does it mean that our European cars without cruise control cannot enable such 'shift' feature or even calling up the 'command control' at all?
