Detailed answer: It's only at 1/2 to full throttle in 1st gear that the car can't hook up. In 2nd gear, the car hooks up no problem up to 3/4 throttle. Full throttle can make the tires spin if conditions are just right (or is that wrong? haha). The car does chirp its tires shifting quickly into 3rd gear. But once in the gear, there is no traction issue at all. We've done some pretty neat tricks with boost response that I'll disclose in detail soon. Quick story is that made our computer predictive of what kind of power delivery the driver wants. It will range from a progressive spool up to an "Slam Bam!" instant spool up depending on what it determines to be most appropriate for the situation. It's pretty damn neat. And it works too!!! When you're driving around normally, you don't have to worry about wheelspin (even with DTC off). But when you're driving hard, it's all you in control. Cheers, shiv |

Shiv,
Awesome progress, you rock :rocks:. The upgraded hardware for us beta testers is very nice gesture on your part and it shows people how customer orientated you are. Have you put any thought into the 12 psi threshold and how we can better take advantage of some race gas? If you get back to florida let me know so we can run over to Rachels again for dinner (work permitting). |

Nah.. Realistically, we're still only in the 400-410bhp range with the 335i. The torque is another story of course (450lbft anyone?). But its at a low enough rpm range that it doesn't come into play during full-on acceleration (drag race for instance). But driven normally around town, of course, there is no doubt that the tuned 335i will likely outperform the new M3. In a drag race, however, it may be more of a challenge to keep up with a ~420bhp M3. But we're not done with tuning this thing yet so who knows what lies ahead. -shiv Last edited by OpenFlash; 01-16-2007 at 06:12 PM.. |

I won't be an early adopter just b/c my funds are so limited now, but rest assured if you guys keep on with this level of quality development... I will be a XEDE flogger for sure. I love hearing about your work. (Wish I could be a tuner too, but I can't quit my day job ) Regards, Michael |

Yet even more impressive results
I am curious to see what a 93 octane Stage 0 (sans exhaust) will do with the updated Xede. Thanks for the update, Shiv. Keep up the great work :rocks: |

Are you still thinking with 100 octane you might see 30 more HP/torque than the 353/405??!! With 450 lb/ft torque and 410 peak HP the broad HP curve of a 335i will already make it match a 420 HP M3 V8. Crazy! BTW, for all you out there concerned about BMW loosing money on warrentee and wear issues due to the XEDE, just THINK about how many folks who never considered a 330i are now breaking out their checkbooks for the 335i due to the great potential of MODS, baby, MODS! 450 lb ft of torque is ALMOST what a Z06 7 liter V8 makes!

This is all great news, Shiv!!!! Thanks for your continued hard work to make the Xede even better. It's really quite amazing what the Xede can do, even without your extra tweaking and refining...but this is all just incredible. We look forward to the new, much improved version of the Xede (and to an easier DIY install/un-install), and thanks again for allowing us 'early adopters' to get a free Xede upgrade! I guess we really were "beta testers."

No exhaust just XEDE
For those of us that do not want the dealer to even glance at us, what are the figures without exhaust. What rwhp and rwtq gains on an exhaust added to the package.
Money order on it way tomorrow. Thanks. |

Ya thats true. But I would think esp with turbo cars as a "tuner" you would expect to replace / change these things sooner or later. More later than sooner.
