I want to correct myself. Apparently the prior 18x8.5 inch f14 weighed in at 17.6lbs. So if this information is true then the F14 weight and load look pretty impressive especially for that price.

These wheels are in stock and ready to ship. They were individually/correctly tested at the actual offsets we sell. There is no build time, and no certification of obscure non e90 offsets.

Our ARC-8 18x8.5" et38 wheel weights 18.45lbs. The 8.5" F14 listed on that chart has a 48mm offset which is 10mm less material then our wheel. If you add the weight of the material needed to have a more accurate apples to apples comparison you've added almost another pound of weight.

18x9.5" wheel on a scale

10mm spacer on a scale

E92 running the 8.5"/9.5" combo as an example
Do you have any pics of a square 18x8.5 setup on a E90 sedan?

Now, after doing more research, it seems the true effect of light wheels is only 1.5-2.0x static weight equivalent. So 48lbs = 72 to 96 lbs.... maybe I should go with something cheaper and heavier (and super deep dish) like VMR or alfulgen.

if you are looking for concavity, the lower offset = more concavity.

VMR might have more offset options for you (if thats what you are looking for)

As per the load rating, if you really did your homework, you'd know that they actually increased the 18" load rating per barrel to 1520 lbs to meet the demand of the community.
Tell me awei,

Is there a vendor in Canada for BBS wheels? Like Toronto?

Thanks

I have Enkei RPF1 in 18" as my winter set-up. I went with them because I may mount R-comps for track days.

I know you've been on Tirerack, so check out the Enkei's and OZs available for your car. Very good wheels, light weight and good quality.

Now I'm confused. The pictures of the Breyton wheels on tirerack say TUV approved. Isn't that the best wheel certification, yet people say they're weak...

JEEZ, there are a lot of forums/threads/articles on wheel weights and performance. But it seems no one actually tests the theory! Everything from "it doesn't make a difference" to "every 1lb unsprung = 1.5-4lbs static" to "1:10 ratio unsprung:static weight." ALL OF IT UNFOUNDED THEORY AND OPINION!

However, I did find a handful of actual empirical testing examples:

http://www.modified.com/tech/modp-09...st/5zigen.html
http://www.eurotuner.com/techarticle..._m3/index.html
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...jsp?techid=108
http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98186
http://www.nerocam.com/SCC_TAPnew.asp

After seeing some real world tests (not people just saying the car *feels* faster), the gains are minimal in acceleration, braking, MPG, and testing around a (albeit small) track. It's not a lot, but it show that tires, new wheel diameter, and driver make more of a difference than wheel weights.

That being said, I want wheels that look good too! Going up to 19's will make a gearing difference (slower) and MN roads are shitty. So I want 18's and I want a square setup (I'm sick of the understeer!)

I think the VMR V710, V701, and Avant Garde M335 all look good (nice concavity, style, quality, PRICE, and all weigh about the same). Any other similar wheel recommendations?

The AG appears strong since it is low pressure cast and (relatively) light, but doesn't come in 8.5, but rather 8 or 9. Can I run a square 9" setup without any modifications? Also, these wheels all come in various offsets (on the same widths).

Does anyone know how VMR wheels are made? I want a wheel that I can keep as my summer set for many years for street and track.

Can someone please tell me the most aggressive offsets and widths for the three 18 inch wheel models I just mentioned I can run on my 06 330i with sport pkg?

MORR is fucking awesome, but 2-3k for a set is too much for me!

The Avant Garde M335 is definitely a great choice if you're looking for a low pressure cast wheel. Take into consideration also that all of the wheels that come standard from BMW straight from the factory are Low-pressure cast at a minimum. The Avant Garde M335 are powder coated, not only for an unheard of durability but also gives the wheel an added unique mirror finish. I'll shoot you over a PM with more details!

Then wait a couple weeks and get the Alufelgen SF-71's in the new special edition Diamond Cutt Black or Diamond Cutt Silver. They are low pressure cast and weigh in the low to mid 20lbs. The finish will be similar to the one seen in the VS8.2 picture above.

Don't count on the alufelgens coming out in an 18 fitment. Last time they said a 18 was going to be available last spring. I wouldn't hold your breath.

I am in a similar boat. Decided agains the Breyton GTS, actually canceled an order, because of the all of the reports of wheels cracking. One forum member actually flipped his car after his Breyton GTS split in half while traveling at a high rate of speed. Gravity case and apparently just not very durable.

VMR's look nice and although they are gravity cast wheel their reputation would lead one to believe they are more durable, plus the guys at VMR and EAS have been super responsive.

I've read about a fare share of issues with Forgestar so likely not going that route. Won't go into details but if you search you will find them,,, MB World, M5 Board etc.

I like the Aleflugen a lot, pressure formed wheel, but it's been VERY difficult trying to get a timely response from these guys, which concerns me to some degree...

Well I just bought a 72 Chevy CST10 (350 cid AKA 5.7L) truck for $800 for hauling/towing/etc... It is SO nice not to have to beg or borrow a truck when I need one!

So I guess I'll get wheels next spring. I have a set of 158's with blizzaks on them to hold me over til then .
