This lip looks pretty good, I might have to order one myself.
So, do you not need to use 3M or any type of adhesive tape on the lip since it wraps around and fits like a "glove" like people are saying? That would be nice for when you want to remove it...it would take no time at all. |

I'll pick it up tomorrow and post up some updates. Body shop had a little delay painting it cause of the really bad weather in the Chicago area.
I'll still use 3M tape just in case.

Nice find! I have the same eBay lip, but I bought mine pre-painted for $275. I wouldn't worry about the part that wraps around, especially with your dark paint color. The bottom line is these cars look a lot better with the aero lip than without, IMO.

Just got back from the body shop and as their reputation in the area precedes them... man do they do great work. For those in the chicago area, Boyce Body Works in Batavia is where I went (original batavia location not naperville).
The paint that they used is special paint for bumpers and it etches into the plastic. This inaddition to baking/curing the bumper results in a piece comparable to OEM. Color match is dead on as they took the code from under the hood, and fitment is 9.9/10. Just need to use some 3M tape and eliminate the lil gap. Here it is snapped onto the bumper with no tape. It's 8* above freezing so I didn't get a chance to wash the car. Left and Right sides are flush, I was pushing against it to see if there is a space... there isn't. Driver side pic didn't come out to well cause of the lighting but it is perfect. Here is a frontal view. Can't complain for a $35 lip. Thanks everyone on your opinions on the edge. I'm so glad I left it there. After paint, it looks pretty damn good and the edge isn't that prominent at all. Ebay Cost $35 lip $65 shipping $100 paint $3 3M tape $203 total Some comparison shopping... $365 lip $175 paint $120 shipping $3 3M tape $663 total I'm going to use the savings towards an ssk.

The front looking like that Spiike32 really finishes off the car great. Draws your eyes right to it. It does for the front what a rear spoiler does for the back. Awesome.

spiike32 - looking good! Fits just like mine
Only difference I only paid $100 for mine. Buddy owns body shop that does BMW body work and paints all my parts for free I remember when a couple of us got these in the 1st part of the year and posted up - there were a couple 'haters' out there replying that the fit sucked, paint was off, etc. & that they would rather have the OEM. I have more than enough $$ to pay for oem, but why waste money when you can have just as good for 1/3 the price - that leaves more money for other mods!

I took that right off a vendor's site... I do support our vendors tho, so didn't want to single anyone out.

Well Tischer sells the oem for:
Lip - $295 Shipping - $70 Paint - $160 TOTAL - $525 Which is prolly cheapest an oem can be had. Still like my $100 expense better

Like yourself the price of OEM is a non issue for me as well, I'd just rather use the funds for something more substantial. It was actually yours (or/and all the other ebay lip threads) that impressed me enough to try out this ebay lip.

Here's a couple shots of my eBay lip. You might also consider painting the lower mesh grilles black. I think it makes a nicer contrast.
I ordered mine pre-painted for $275. I didn't know of any good shops nearby, so for me it was easier to just have it painted before delivery:

Well, 1st time I attached I put the tape on one way - and then decided I could get it even tighter by doing it differently.
>1 1st make sure there is no paint overspray on all the inside surfaces of the spoiler where you will be putting the tape, clean areas well with rubbing alcohol, clean area on front bumper as well. If you leave any overspray on - the tape will stick to the overspray at first, but then, because the paint is not adhered well on backside (at least it wasn't on mine because they didn't try to paint the back), the tape will pull off the oversprayed paint it is attached to easily and become detached from the spoiler. >2 Cleaned the countersunk area of the spoiler that runs up & down (vertically) right behind the lip that goes around the wheel opening on both ends and then attached 3/4" wide 3m tape in that area both sides. >3 Cleaned the top edges of both V's that cover the middle posts on the bumper & then applied 3/4" tape along the edges 1/8" down from top (horizontally) on both long leg and short leg - both sides. >4 Tear off protective film from all tape >5 Started at left side (looking at car) attached spoiler with edge tight up against wheel well opening, and while slowly wrapping the spoiler around the car to the right and making sure it fits correctly around foglight and grill - pushed the taped end tight to affix tape to car. >6 When I got to 1st V center post (PS), held it out from car slightly, pulling back on rear edges of both long leg & short leg to spread the V apart, pushed V tight UP against bumper as far as it would go & IN on very point as fas as it would got - then pressed from pointr back along each leg to affix tape to car >7 Repeat step 6 for DS V >8 Worked my way around to right side end and then repeated step 5 >9 After I was sure all tape was affixed well I pulled the underneath of spoiler to match up the holes to the existing front bumper holes and installed/tightened the screws. I seem to remember that I had to actually find slightly longer screws than the factory ones for a couple of the holes because the original screws where made to only go thru 1 thickness (front bumper) and were too short to got thru both spoiler & bumper and engage in cage nut. Hope this explains it well enough - good idea to do this after the spoiler has been setting out in the sun for a while to warm it up and make it more flexible.
