great story AW325Xi. You definitely know what you are doing with the 330i.

Hey

[QUOTE=renazilla;8286445]To tell you the truth, I knew nothing about BMWs three days ago. I just knew they were really nice cars! When I when to sell my Vette there a trade in that just got there. It was a white 2006 330i with 50,000 miles on it in almost perfict shape. I walked out paying $17,000 out the door for it. To me I think it's a good deal but could be wrong?

I guess I'll just have to make this on a good looker insted of a good performer!

Oh by the way is this a pretty good model?

Is there any know issue that I should look out for with the car? Like the auto transmition, lubrication issues, stuff like that?

Thanks for any advice![/QUOTE

Your N52 330 has some great potential if you want to bring the best out of it. It all depends on what you want out of the car

Another previous vette owner here. Mine was supercharged with 650HP. While my 330XI can't even come close to competing in a straight line.....we DO have steering wheels on the car for a reason. The 330 handles like it's on rails (The x-drive helps). With the Vette, I had to feather it from 0-40. I can hammer it in the 330, even when it's in a turn and not worry about breaking loose. Instead of trying to make my car something it's not, I have accepting what it is.... An amazing all-around car that can turn like no other and can do pretty descent on a straight away. This car is def built for auto-crossing and daily back roads. Given the right road... I could beat any corvette...on the other hand... Given the rite road... The vette could spank me... It all depends on the circumstance. Overall, enjoy the luxury, the 4 seats, the smoothness, the handling, and the million other bells and whistles that come with a BMW... That doesn't come on a vette. I'm holding off on any performance mods for now, because to me.... The greatest performance mod has already been done to it.... It's AWD system.

I respect anyone's need for AWD, but if you think an XI BMW handles well...you should try driving a RWD one...the difference is night and day to me.

Like I said before... I had a 650HP RWD car... It was fun... But you couldn't turn the wheel and gas it at the same time. Maybe the BMW has a better LSD... I don't know. The vette was incredible after 30mph.... And yes.. The RWD was incredible, but you had to feather it until the wheels were straight. The Vette went up to 200mph.... So you can tell it was built more for speed than auto-crossing. I did however have the autocrossing package... But even with that, you needed some really sticky tires on there.

Oh for sure, I wasn't in any way trying to insinuate that you didn't know that RWD goodness. I should've more accurately asserted that I greatly prefer RWD over AWD. But, different strokes for different folks. And actually the only BMW's that get LSD's stock are M's, we just get the normal diff's.

I got ya! I agree... The RWD puts more of the car in yours hands...They really show you who the REAL drivers are and who the posers are. There is definitely a reason why 80% or so of the Bimmers come in RWD. My next car (some M variant) will have RWD.... I'll be back...
