Same here, i did it on my e90.
The valve is right after the muffler before the left side exhaust tip.
Unplugging the cable leaves the valve open.
The "muffler valve" so to speak exists on all 335i's be it e90, e91, e92, or e93.
At least for those with the N54 engine, I am not sure about the new N55... (2011+)

i'm not sure why you guys do the golf tee mod when unplugging the plug in the trunk does the same thing and it takes less than 1 minute.

+1 on on resonator delete - put an x-pipe in there. My car sounds comletely different now. Sound is *MUCH* better. I tried the golf tee mod aftewards (use a zip tie, it takes 10 seconds to do) as well, but it droned and sounded ghetto IMO, so I removed the zip tie. Just search out x-pipe or resonator delete and you will see a bunch of threads. Good luck!

Okay i didnt word it correctly; the golf tee does work obviously since theres a hose, but the sound isnt the same as the e92 guys' sound that the e90s are all looking for. I meant it doesnt work for the e90s because the sound isnt as loud as the coupes. The reason being the e92 coupes exhaust comes with an x pipe, but the e90s has the resonator instead.

+1, supposedly it throws a code that the deal can see but I i've been in 3 times and they haven't said a word to me about it.

It does, I found a code using the BT cable. No big deal though, dealer never says anything
